What struck me about the firing of Rex Tillerson is that the grounds seem to be that he disagrees with Mr Trump too often. This is rather interesting; people who feel secure can usually cope with debate and alternative points of view. People who are insecure tend to prefer Yes-Men. But having said that, Mr Tillerson did call Mr Trump "a fucking moron", which is accurate but a rather surprising thing for a Secretary of State to say. Diplomats don't usually go in for Tourettes.

I'm beginning to wonder if Trump will 'fall' not because of impeachment or whatever, but simply because he will have sacked so many people that no-one will work with him or for him.

A person of my acquaintance who used to work with Rex Tillerson remarked to me at the time of his nomination, "I can't imagine a less diplomatic person. He's one of those old oil guys. You can dress him up and put a suit on him, but he is always going to be rough and ready."

Tillerson had met with Putin many times while CEO of Exxon. It is rather interesting that he would caution Russia as part of his exit speech. Is anyone not in an opiod induced haze still buying "NO COLLUSION?"

Can H.R. McMaster and John Kelly be far behind?

Professor Allan Lichtman who has called 30+ years of presidential elections and predicted Trump's win also predicted that Trump will be impeached. It doesn't seem too likely at the moment, but the professor pointed out that Trump is a compulsive liar and Mueller is lining up a host of witnesses.

If you think about it for a minute that's not really all that impressive of a feat. 2016 was a clear upset and 2000 was a coin toss (and the last one before that was 1960). The rest going all the way back basically to 1968 pretty much went the way most people anticipated. There were no upsets or surprises. I honestly did not think that Trump would win in 2016 but with the exception of that my record at calling presidential elections rivals that of Professor Lichtman. Predicting that Trump will be impeached is not a terribly bold move. I don't see them rallying to remove him even if they get impeachment through the House.

My memory seems to tell me that in past administrations, North Korea wanted to talk to a US president as well. I seem to recall that their demand that South Korea not be present was a condition we refused. Has anything changed other than their nuclear capabilities or the fact that Trump said yes?

I can't see anything good coming from this.

Lichtman has backed off the impeachment prediction noting that the Republican party is willing to condone conflicts of interest, influence peddling, perjury and treason if it will allow them to cling to power. Needless to say, this policy will likely prove quite costly in the long term.

John O. Brennan

Former CIA Director (2013-17). Nonpartisan American who is very concerned about our collective future.

TILLERSON ???

* Tillerson has ties with President Vladimir Putin
They have been associates since Tillerson represented Exxon's interests in Russia, the world's largest producer of crude oil

* John Hamre, the President and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, of which Tillerson is a board member, states that Tillerson "has had more interactive time with Vladimir Putin than probably any other American, with the exception of Dr. Henry Kissinger."

* In 2013, Tillerson was awarded the Order of Friendship by Putin for his contribution to developing cooperation in the energy sector.

* MOST IMPORTANT *

Carter Page announced during one of his Russian trips / lectures...48 hours before Trump did, that Tillerson would be the New Secretary of State. Everyone expected somebody else, till Russia allegedly 'blocked' that choice.
Russia, in naivety possibly, wanted a guy"they knew and trusted" in place to ease sanctions, open up US-Russia trade.

Oooops..... their choice called Trump a 'moron' and never denied it.... had some integrity.

I'm not a fan of Tillerson, regard him as a 'fat-cat'...more or less.... but he was working as a cotton-picker, and janitor, to get through college...at the same time that Trump was having his 5/6 deferments from Vietnam.

True, but Brennan has made no secret of his contempt for Trump.

Meanwhile, I think Sessions played a blinder by firing McCabe. He had his cake and ate it. He kept Trump happy, and therefore kept his job. And when/if it all goes south and Trump goes down for obstruction/treason/money laundering/Pornstargate, Sessions can quite reasonably claim he fired McCabe to protect Mueller, because the only way Trump can fire Mueller is by firing Sessions and Rosenstein.

Default James Comey to President Trump: 'The American People Will Hear My Story Very Soon'

Former FBI Director James Comey isn’t done talking about his dealings with President Donald Trump, according to a tweet posted Saturday.

Trump on Saturday morning suggested that Comey was aware of unsavory or illegal activity within the FBI. He first tweeted that, “As the House Intelligence Committee has concluded, there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump Campaign. As many are now finding out, however, there was tremendous leaking, lying and corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, Justice & State,” before adding in a second tweet that, “Comey knew it all, and much more!”

Comey responded in a separate tweet just a few minutes later. “Mr. President, the American people will hear my story very soon,” he wrote. “And they can judge for themselves who is honorable and who is not.”
