P.S. The Champions would have to wait until they 'won' their respective league 'again' before they could qualify for 'Champions' league. At least it would rotate and more people would get their chance. And as I've said in previous posts ONLY 'Champions' should play in 'The CHAMPIONS League' Not teams who finish 4th. It would also make a refreshing change to have a season away from playing the same teams season in season out

Well I still think that they called it the 'CHampions League' for convenience, as the 'League of Rich Clubs and their Friends but not you' was a little unwieldy...

Anyway 36 hours later and 1-6 vs Germany still annoys me. Yes they are good. Yes we were missing players. but 1-6 and it could, should have been more... Ouch.

Interesting to see the F.A's "Let's Kick Racism Out of Football" is not quite in full operation as yet.

Thought the black kid who was ballboy for Sheffield Wednesday was quite within his rights to be upset with the Oldham player (alleged of course, yeah, right!).

To be honest, I would have kicked the ball straight back in his WEDDING TACKLE!!!

Currently listening to Radio 5Live's special on peddling - drug use in professional cycling. I'm a huge road cycling fan btw.
Now most of what I'm hearing has been rumoured/known for many years but not so overtly. That Lance Armstrong was a Grade A asshole was evident to everyone apart from his appalling worshippers and his doping was well known but unproven. But what has also always been part and parcel of the doping in sport has been that cycling embraced it fully but other sports indulged as well - tennis, golf and....football.

The 'so strong that they are barely even rumours'-rumours
about Italian league football blood doping and use of 'vitamins' is near legendary; I wonder if this will spill out like a pavement pizza before too long, when someone gets offered a deal about match fixing. Spanish sport has always been almost open about it's involvement with doping - the cycling fraternity were only a part of systemmatic drug cheating.
I was told a while ago that some clubs in the Premiership have at least experimented with blood doping and transfusions - the rumours are particularly heavy about one London club's 'interest' in medical options...

I wonder when the next scandal will erupt? Things have moved on since Wolves were offered the old monkey-gland treatment!

Managed to catch most of the show myself - at work - and found it FASCINATING listening, in many ways. This ain't a cycling thread, so I won't go on about it, but well done to Chappers. He's come on a long way since he was Sara Cox's glove puppet.

As to tonight's international drudgery, of course I want Scotland to win, and ultimately qualify for Brazil, but there seems from the outside to be a malaise within the Scotland scenario.

Tamsmith, and any other Jambos reading; I like Craig Levein. I liked him as a Hearts player, I liked him as a Hearts manager, I liked him as an Arabs manager. Leicester City and Cowdenbeith I am less well able to say; but I like the man, he's got a lot about him as a bloke.

I think however that he is wholely unsuited to the old man's job.

His proclamations and subsequent selections have been regularly baffling. Lee Wallace of rangers not good enough as he plays in the third division, yet Ian Black of rangers is picked. Kris Commons of Celtic openly slated as being sixth best (at best) when he is left out, then we have a must win against Wales and Commons starts wide in a front three. These are but a couple.

I wonder if the level of public scrutiny involved in the national set up is something that Levein finds too difficult to deal with ? By the way, I'm not too sure that I could deal with a similar level of abuse either.

Anyway, the bouncers on the door of the Last Chance Saloon have said that Scotland's name's are not on the list. Here's hoping that they're wrong.

Where are the groundstaff?

Its raining stair-rods, the roof wasn't shut because the Poland team wouldn't agree and now there are pools of water all over the pitch and the stadium is full of fans. There's Buckley's Chance of them seeing a game tonight and nobody, but nobody is trying to protect the pitch, dry it out or even take charge.

Even if there isn't any crowd trouble, and these fans have not been well treated to say the least, there will need to be a bit of a stewards enquiry into how this situation happened.

Seems the Poland v England match is going to be played tomorrow instead. ITV bosses are going potty because it looks likely that it'll clash with a highly anticipated (by who???) 1 hour live special edition of Emmerdale.
