I think if Video Gamers can be given Athlete visas then the whole definition of what is an athlete is up in the air.

Files have been released from the national archives relating to exercise WINTEX a Command Post Exercise(CPX) in 1983. One thing that was in the press was the speech that the Queen would have made when we went to war. Later on that year another CPX took place called ABLE ARCHER, the Soviets apparently thought that NATO was actually planning to attack on that one.

And having once done WINTEX I can assure you it was a pain in the arse!

I was reading Jeremy Clarkson in The Sun this weekend and rather enjoyed his view on the Twitter abuse affair. He claims he always gets abuse on Twitter and always looks at the people who send these messages. He noticed that they hardly have any followers and in reality are usually little blokes with little penises and no friends. As I recall vividly a teacher at school saying " I have often found that bullies are people who cannot stick up for themselves in reality".

We already know they do. There have been a number of instances of people in various parts of Africa refusing to take famine relief supplies because they had heard there was GM food in it. They would literally rather starve to death than eat (mostly American) potentially GM food.

I seem to remember seeing meat synthetic on Tomorrow's World back in the 1980s (were you a Judith Hann or Maggie Philbin man?). I was also told about it at school but I think it was made from synthetic proteins made from crude oil!

This is all I could find...

Growing meat in vats has been a staple of science fiction for decades. H.Beam Piper had it in his stories from the late 50's and early 60's. I'm sure others wrote about it before that.

That was because of Andropov and some others. The Americans freaked him out with their missile placements etc, and he made everyone look for evidence that the West wanted to attack. That's how you found out about it

Otherwise he was much smarter than most

You discovered it here, this week

Oh definitely in the Maggie Philbin camp on that one. We should have course mentioned that we have synthetic meat already, well something that looks like and can act like meat-namely QUORN. A spin off of the mushroom which can somehow imitate meat products like sausages, mince and chicken-amazing stuff and been around a long time so it's not new having something that resembles something else.

I've tasted quorn and similar products and it tastes nothing like meat or chicken.
