Sure the scanner could've done a better job, but a 33.6 kilobit modem was the limiting factor back then, so we all had to reduce the image size and colour depth to swap scans on the web back then. On an 800x600 14" VGA monitor these pics looked great.

Chuckle - I did a search for the old modem connection sequence sound just to get in the proper frame of mind to look at these.
