I stumbled upon this thread because I was updating an old post that was intended to help VEF'ers on where to place posts, focusing on the "catch-all" threads; needing to go through every one of the (as of now) 240 pages of Classic Celebrities, I came across this thread for "Trinny and Susannah." Who?


Nearly sixty, Trinny is still making use of her good-looking bod to attract the spotlight.

It didn't take long to learn they were behind a TV show in the U.K., yet another example of how those outside Great Britain feel like fools for having no idea about VEF threads that highlight British TV programs. When I went about trying to discover this pair, I came across an article that made my heart sink. As a result, I was compelled to compose this post.

(As a warning, I didn't conduct an in-depth study of these ladies, and let's bear in mind there is a danger of relying on the claims of one article.)



What put Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine on the map was their focus on "body positivity." The article went on to state that "their tough love earned them legions of fans and catapulted them to international fame, landing them slots on everything from The Oprah Winfrey Show to the Oscars red carpet." (So they came to be known outside of Britain, further exposing my ignorance.)

They weren't just show biz partners; they evidently had a genuine fondness for each other.



Article explains the two have faced real struggles. Trinny, the tall brunette (I'm adding that description because I figure I'm not the only one who is in the dark about Trinny and Susannah), had a substance problem since her youth. Aside from drugs, she would down a bottle of vodka a night. (Wow.)

To her credit, Trinny got herself together. Her partner Susannah also had a deep friendship with the bottle. She has been clean for the past eight years or so.



What's Abbott without Costello? What's Laurel, without Hardy? Susannah must have pondered over the profundity of splitting up with the partner who helped make Susannah the professional entity that she became.

Their friendship is still intact. "We won’t work together again, but we speak all the time. We’re opposites in every way but we have an incredible bond."

I wouldn't feel too sorry about these two otherwise. Especially oh, Susannah. Don't you cry for her. Another article claimed she's got five million in the kitty. (That's in pounds, not dollars. There was a time when a pound was worth two dollars. Now it's little more than one-to-one, which still means the lady is loaded.)

The other one, Trinny, is doing quite well with her make-up products. (The British tabloids can't get enough of these two, especially Trinny.) This article stated that the lady launched "her highly-anticipated skincare products" in early 2022, and serves as "founder and CEO of the beauty empire Trinny London." She said that "creating a skincare line was the 'natural progression' for her beauty brand known for selling high-quality makeup products." Her brand has "more than tripled its turnover in a year to a huge £44.2 million. One of her most popular products, a £35 glow-boosting suncream, is said to be sold every ten seconds."

So let me get on with why I needed to delve into these two. Here is what caused their downfall as a team:

"When their 2007 ITV show Undress the Nation was met with a devastating backlash over the amount of nudity before 9pm, the duo went their separate ways."


Those are some nipples, all right. In one
episode of UNDRESS THE NATION, "Trinny
underwent silicone and prosthetic enhance-
ment to change her shape from her own
32A cup to Susannah's 32D."

There is a photo in the article that has been put up on the thread (in 2015's Post #31, by Member "Astbury04"; here's the photo), variations of which are all over the internet (also in Post #1 of this thread, and Member "Technoallah" put up three more views in his Post #21 from 2011) with the pair hugging on the beach in the nude. I chose the first shot below because it was a bit different, (although it came with the awful Getty watermark, which I attempted to minimize). I later found another photo, which follows. The article the latter came from explained these beach views were a promotion for their Great British Body series.

In the article, the caption underneath the (second) photo emphasized the tragedy: "People weren't happy about Trinny and Susannah's relaxed approach to nudity."

I thought this was incredible. So here you had Trinny and Susannah who had made a huge success for themselves. (This article that is critical of their nudity informs, "When they presented What Not To Wear on the BBC, they pulled in seven million viewers.") Just because they decided to be a little "daring," they were completely done in as a team. What's going on here? Sure, they may have misjudged the reaction, but to not be forgiven seemed unreasonable, and extreme.

Nudity served as the death blow to their partnership. This is quite a statement on the prudishness of our times, isn't it?


A reminder as to why we must have an appreciation and respect for the women who take off their clothes in movies and television. The Scarlet Letter is never far behind.
