Nice sentiments from both you guys;
I am having a full Sunday lunch for a change today, a pub on the A64 Wetherby road out of Leeds does a Carvery for £3-50 per head 'All you can eat' so I'm taking my GF and my son and daughter who are visiting for the day out for lunch "Hah tabler you cheap bugger" I hear you say, but you should see the Gannets eat

Now you can take that Courgette ! , and .......... Put it on the mince and cover it , tightly squash it around until you`ve formed an overlarge greedy man`s tube burger Then pan fry that sucker until it`s golden brown and ready for chomping Actually this recipe is so versatile it`ll still work even without the addition of a courgette And so good it`d turn Snow White bad

Now and later
I shall definitely be trying GS's courgette burger: I have bought the steak mince today. But I fried the courgette in butter last night and had it as a side vegetable. If I can't blag another one tomorrow then I shall buy one.
Tonight I have had a gammon steak, which I pan-fried in sunflower oil with some mushrooms. After getting the meat well cooked I threw in about 1/3 pint of cider and and rendered it down before adding a bit of single cream and some black pepper and boiling that down: cream of cider sauce. Side vegetables: peas, carrot and new potatoes, the latter home grown. A very pleasant meal.

Just throwing out a cheer for probably the best store bought steak and kidney pie (S) i`ve ever eaten
Bloody lovely, in fact they`re so good you don`t even need ketchup . Which is a shame really as i do like to have at least one vegetable with my meal (Excluding myself of course ) No that image has not been digitally enhanced , they are indeed that mouthwatering

I had to look up what a courgette was. My dumb American ass had no clue. Since it is what we call a zucchini I can help. Floured and fried is always good (but everything is good like that). Since we are overrun with them this time of year (one plant will produce several dozen), I cook one most every night. Usually I will cut it into planks, brush it with olive oil, season (just salt and pepper is good, but I usually use what is on the meat), and grill it with whatever meat I am grilling tonight (in the summer the grill is used almost everyday). I also recently cut one into a large dice, and stir-fried it with some chicken. I know the one you had is long gone, but this may help for the next one. All good summer squash will only be around a short time, so take advantage of them while you can.

I havnt had any water on now for 3 hours and according to Yorkshire water it will be off most of the evening (burst main up in the village, had torrential rain all day) so a good excuse to have fish and chips eaten out of the paper, no washing up

Cod or Haddock in batter with thick proper chips cooked in vegetable oil (used to be lard) served on greaseproof paper and wrapped in Newspaper Bloody lovely mv
Sometimes now people buy curry sauce (not real spicy curry) or mushy peas with them but I just have salt and vinegar
