Really overated T.V. series.
To my mind in recent years there has been a plethora of bad..no, really s***e T.V. series being shown on the box that the critics and the 'meeja' who in their infinite wisdom would have us mortals believe that these series are quality. Well, I say no, in fact they are overated crap.
Here's a few that spring to mind, anyone care to add, be my guest: Sex in the city. (Featuring a smug moose) Christ! even my other half hates this pile of excrement. It could be improved however if they showed the actual private lives of the four 'women'. One's shacking up with a big, fat, lezzer. I.V.F. for a desperate one, divorce, etc. Strictly for gay-men only. Larry David. I'm just not into Jewish anally-retentive humour. Seinfeld. Ditto. The Office. Not a fan of fatboy Gervais, I watched one episode and just wanted to inflict pain on the smug git. Lost. A good idea turned into a shaggy dog story. Our Friends in the north.(British telly) About trainee lawyers in the North of England. Dull, dull, dull. Why are there so many lawyer T.V. series? Heroes. It's starting to go nowhere. C.S.I. Miami. This series is just plain silly, I've been to Miami, it's a nice place, but it has rough parts as well (Liberty City). How come they're never shown? Also David Caruso is possibly the most hammiest actor since Larry Olivier. Any others? |

I don't think Our Friends in the North was about lawyers-it was the way a group of friends changed over 4 decades and concentrated on their separate lives-one became a firebrand Labour leader and then watched his downfall.
The one with the lawyers was This Life. I don't watch many American shows, never seen one episode of CSI whatever it is that week, Larry David(I think I was put off by that moron shouting Daddy! I'm not so stupid anymore!" in the trailer on fact the only US show I am hooked on at the moment is Season 3 of 'HEROES'.

Lost - gave up after the first series. Ditto Heroes, which was OK but could have been a lot better.
In the UK - Spooks - utterly preposterous storylines. Also the new Dr Who, which was made for the MTV generation, so we get celeb companions and special effects rather than good stories and the old charm and humour. Didn't bother to list soaps and reality shows, which are without exception utter dross. |

Good call! a really idiotic series, full of believable characters (not), plot-lines (not) and f**k-all to do with real life. To be slightly more realistic, i.e. some semblance to the truth, how about they printed the reality. Geoffrey Prime,( I think that's his name) paedophile, David Shayler ( Messiah complex), let's not forget about those toss-pots who were battered and stabbed in a wine-bar by yardie's, or perhaps leaving their lap-tops on a train, or a wine-bar, even the boot of a car; to be nicked by a little rat-faced chav one hour later appearing on E.Bay. |

Lost,
The Office, Extras, (any film or TV show with Ricky Gervais in it the unfunniest man alive) Friends (1/2 hour episodes of porn quality actors standing around going 'Oh My God!' Sex in the City. All British soap operas. All Australian ones Oh yes and my biggest hate of all: the New Doctor Who. Tennant grates my TEETH! What have they done to my childhood show. Its so... SHIT! As someone suggested before its aimed at kids with Attention Deficit Disorders with plots and acting worse than a chav punch up outside a pub. No I disgaree I like Spooks and Dr Who is an excellent series at least they don't spend time running down the same corridor all the time and they have spent money on making Spooks look authentic as possible as well as doing actual location work-Dr Who used to have that bloody chalk pit and they used the same with Blakes' Seven too. It may be hokum but its enjoyable hokum-not everything the US makes is that good. The whole point of these series is escapism, they aren't supposed to be super real anyway.
I agree about Coronation Street though, should have finished years ago, was never the same when Hilda Ogden left
