I'm watching a documentary series on National Geographic channel called Meet The Amish, about a group of Amish teenagers who go too England and experience a different lifestyle in a foreign country. Well worth watching it.

Then I was thinking

everyone should experience The Amish lifestyle for a while, not so much the religious part, I mean the modern 1900's + lifestyle. I think most would quickly appreciate what they have. I really admire these dudes

Oh yes! Not an F-18 in particular but anything that can take of from an 800 meter runway and then climb to 15000 ft in one minute! Despite some blokes who did it (being groundcrew in our air force) and honestly said "never again!" and "don't do it!"
After flying some aerobatics I do have some idea of what to expect but of course pulling 9 G's is something quite different. But given the chance, would certainly do it.

Maybe it would be an idea for our budget-plagued air force to offer flights in their F-16's to support maintenance :-)
Some countries (Russia and I believe Ukraine) offer flights in their MiG-29 and Sukhoi SU27 aircraft in order to generate extra budget for maintenance but I did spend the same amount of money to earn my pilot's licence as 30 minutes in one of the above aircraft would cost.
