I don't think they did a pick-up truck version though.

Well, I've driven the new car home 15 miles through infuriating London traffic, a journey which took over an hour. At least all the stopping and starting gave me ample opportunity to learn the biting point of the clutch, which is higher and heavier than I would like (my old one was extremely light on the clutch). The accelerator pedal is a bit stiff too, making it harder to be smooth when pulling away on uphill junctions. But I have got the basic feel of her now. I may yet decide to have these things adjusted but I will give it time and give myself time to get used to the set-up.
Also, now that my car-buying spectacles have been removed, a few minor scratchs on the paintwork are visible. The most serious blemish is that the passenger side mirror has obviously been removed by a passing car and re-fixed using resin: not the tidiest repair and I may do the obvious thing and apply a little black paint to the traces of resin which are visible. But it is a solid repair and the mirror isn't going anywhere, which is what really matters. Otherwise I am pretty satisfied. The car is in pretty good shape for such a cheapie. But now I have to learn all the new tricks. Apparently I even get "cruise control". WTF?

My brother in law had a Mondeo of similar vintage. If I recall correctly it had a "fly-by-wire" throttle which means there's no cable connection between pedal and engine. So maybe the pedal unit needs a drop of WD40?
