Is it too much to ask why my posts in this thread have been deleted? Can someone please give me an explanation? What have I done wrong?

I was a massive Beatles and Lennon fan at the time. I heard his name mentioned when I turned on the radio just before the news bulletin was due and I assumed they were announcing they would be playing his record after the news. I went in to the kitchen to get some breakfast and as I returned to the living room they were reading the news. I was absolutely gobsmacked. Everyone at work knew I was a Lennon fan and spent the whole day trying to wind me up. I was sorry he was dead but it wasn't like he was a parent or a close relative so it didn't really matter.
It would have been interesting to see what he produced if he had lived but I'm not confident he would have written anything quite as good as some of his beatles records or early solo ones. |

I removed your posts. Its a bit like posting on a model thread. If you dont like her, dont look at the thread.
By the same token, do not denigrate other peoples opinions and posts. This thread is a homage to John Lennon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTywHAFZxcU

I still remember where I was at when I first heard the news of John's passing. Like most of America, I was watching Monday Night Football and it was Howard Cosell (why Howard, I'll never understand) who gave the news. Would have been better had it been Frank Gifford as he was more dignified. Ironically, "Dandy" Don Meredith, who was the third member of the group died last week, 30 years later.

No, it is very unlikely Chapman will be released. This is due, at least in part, to the fact that Chapman has received more death threats than any other prisoner in US history.

Rolling Stone has a tribute to Lennon in the most recent issue. It includes a never-seen-before interview with Lennon that was done three days before his murder.
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...2-8-8-20101208 I was in high school when he died, and remember vividly discussing his death with friends. It was a real shocker especially considering his "comeback" with Double Fantasy. |

My favourite John Lennon quote is this:
On the death of Elvis Presley in August 1977, a reporter was dispatched to get a quote from John Lennon for his opinion on the death of a fellow rock 'n' roll icon. John's reply to the reporter was: "To me Elvis died when he joined the Army". Typical Lennon.Short, sharp, acerbic, cruel, but ohhh so true |

Totally agree. Why would anyone who didn't like Lennon or any post paying homage to anyone visit that post just to say negative stuff? John rock on in the afterlife.

Quote:
I was in college, and Lennon's killing, occurring just a month after Reagan's election, felt like some tidal change in the world. Reagan's election had seemed impossible to us-- an actor for gosh sake-- and we were in that awkward in-between when Carter still was in office. Lennon's killing punctuated that in a very dramatic way. In one of those odd things, the way I found out about it was that someone decided to play Taps on a trumpet; it was the middle of the night, and it seemed weird and we went into the hallway. Someone told us that John Lennon had been shot. For me, three decades on, Lennon's killing and Reagan's election and the guy blowing Taps have all collapsed into one memory. |
