Found them - an Adam & Eve catalog and a certain infamous issue of Penthouse - under the mattress. Of course the fucking mattress! Not because she was prying but because fitting a flat sheet proved troublesome. SO I asked for help, determined to have a well-made bed. Naturally her deft hand found the illicit items and with an "A-ha!" as she pulled them into view.

I honestly can't remember getting into trouble or what happened to said smut. Nor why I stuck said smut in the most proverbial hiding spot! Youthful foolishness, I guess.

Yes, of course my Mum knew I had mags as a teenager, but she never said anything.
My Dad had his own stash, and would pass on mags he found discarded at motorway service stations - presumably the ones he didn't fancy himself. One of these was my first copy of Swish, which set up an enthusiasm for spanking ever since.

I actually got caught with the usual array of magazines by my step sister. This was especially mortifying. Didn't stop me tho (well at the time yes but not in the long run)

Its not strictly relevant to the thread - but I had a wonderful complete collection of ' Battle Picture Weekly ' comics
( John Wagner and Pat Mills created it ) - from 1976 to 1978 -
and I came back one day from School to find them missing - and I asked my late mother ' where are they ' - she had decided ' I was war-mad ' and had binned them so that I would stop reading about Second World War -

Needless to say , it didn't work , and I was mightily annoyed for weeks
- actually I was livid as I had kept the Posters in the Comic intact - and lost those as well
( but she was right , I am war mad - and read too much about stuff ! )

Had a lot of Club international and Mens World. They were 'hidden' under my bed beneath a huge box of comics. Mum never said anything and I always thought my secret stash was just that. Until years later she said she pulled everything out once a week to do the hoovering. Doh.

Not my mother but my father did. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s and started masturbating at 13 in 1961. Parental attitudes were still Victorian and negative toward sex in general and masturbation in particular. This culture provided the backdrop to my own sexual experience and emergence. There was little sex education to counter it even though I was lucky to live my early adult sexuality in an era when repression was being challenged. There was no reference to masturbation in my family but I had been told that touching your penis was dirty so the asumption that it was seriously disapproved was apparent. The fear of being caught in the act haunted masturbation, still does and possession of pin up and porn mags was clear evdence that you were ‘doing it’!

Fortunately, I was never found in the act. Had I been, the effect would I am sure have been devastating on my sexual well being. Initially I wanked to underwear adverts and the lingerie pictures in my mothers clothing catalogue, common practice in my era. When I was 14, I found three classic 50’s/60’s pin up mags of my uncles and stole them. They were tame by todays standards, lots of raised skirts, stockings suspenders and panties and bare tits and bottoms.My father, caught me trying to smuggle them out of the house and warned me of the ‘dangers’ of masturbation but very obliquely. If my parents knew that I masturbated they did not make it known. My father warned me against things that would upset my mother and could lead to mental decay! He didn’t actually refer to masturbation but it was understood we both knew what he was referring to! This, in addition to my concern not to be caught in the act of masturbatng led to a period in which I felt shame and insecurity until I escaped to university.

Until I came to think seriously about this I had always thought that my parents had no knowledge of my juvenile wanking. I had not considered how my father came to catch me trying to leave the house with copies of Beautiful Britons hidden in my jacket. Now I realise he must have known I had them which evidences that by then he, at least, knew I was masturbating. I was humiliated at being caught with the magazines and thought my father was warning me against starting to wank rather than against continuing to do it. I would have been mortified if I had realised he probably knew I was.
