The Worst or Most Pug Ugly Car In The World
Everyone who doesn't live in Antarctica or Bhutan has probably had the Bad Car Experience. The model which ought never to have been even designed; the Monday Morning car which was wheeled off the production line by zombies still in pain from a weekend of debauchery; the car which looked
like this when you had your buying glasses on but which turned into this as soon as you drove it away. My nomination for WCITW is the Fiat 850. They may have improved (they sure needed to) but in the 1970s, Fiats were atrocious cars. They were horrid, wheezy little motors and were invariably rotten as a peach. My mother, who can no more choose a car than I can choose a girl, bought herself a yellow Fiat 850, which her husband and kids immediately christened "The Lemon." It constantly blew its' thermostat gasket, so we could not even go to the shops without spare water. The front wings had severe corrosion (Vauxhall Viva's Disease). It would always choose its moment and break down at a traffic light or in a similar position to maximise embarressment. Neither of my parents has ever collided with another car except when driving that jinxed piece of crap. My mother hit 2 cars in it, one of which had just been resprayed that day. My father totalled a vintage Bentley: the Fiat wasn't even scratched. In the end they sold it for scrap, even though it still ran fine and even had a months MOT left. Three months later the police came round at 2am and rousted us all out of our beds. Someone had abandoned that Fiat in the middle of Leeds City Square, right outside the railway station, exactly where it could block the most traffic. The scrap merchant had sold it on and never processed the paperwork so the DVLA still thought it belonged to my mother. When they tried to move it, one of the coppers had issues with the handbrake (which was also crap) and scraped a squad car. The police were not happy and came around at 2am to say so...

Trabant
The DDR's answer to Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. The much-loved Trabi, star of the silver screen and hours of endless fun on youtube. The petrol tank is thoughtfully positioned above your knees. Reliant Britain's answer to the Plastic Fantastic Trabi, less one wheel. My first impression of these (luckily, not from the driver's seat) was that it was somebody's idea of a sick joke. No, they were deadly serious. |

British Leyland were to design, manufacturing quality and customer service what Herod the Great was to infant daycare and social services. The Allegro was by no means the worst car ever made by BL: This one was worse. The Austin Maestro. This one added insult to injury by calling itself the "MG Maestro" and the concept of Badge Engineering was born. Take a pot of frogspawn and call it cavier. Take a bottle of flat lemonade and call it champagne. Once upon a time Britain had a motor industry. It died partly because all its life it was starved of capital investment, milked for production and shamelessly expected its customers to accept vile things like the above. BL was the culmination of three quarters of a century devoted to making cars which were designed to be the bare minimum the market would tolerate and regularly fell short of this. These cars were backed up by criminally mismanaged manufacturing and production line workforces whose attitudes were utterly appalling. RWOP British Leyland.

Lol... Got one from my uncle, when i was about 15 years old. Just like the one on the photo above, even the same color. We,... me and my brother painted "General Lee 01"on the sides, just like the one from The Dukes.. He had an abandoned piece of land that was fenced, full of stones and rocks. the car was ready for the junk yard, even before we got on it. In no time we trashed the damn thing.. The radiator had no function anymore, the sparks got that hot that even by turning off the engine, it kept going on... .

Think itīs time to not only blame italian or british cars, but also Germany has had some big fails in engineering - the VW 411/412
Based primarily on the ancient Beetle-platform, it was far from being up-to date - low performance engine, excessive fuel-consumption and very critical handling due to the rear-engine concept.
