Maybe golf would be more interesting if all the players started at the same time - like in F1 or football or cricket.

Bank of England implicated in Libor rigging from secret recording

A secret recording that implicates the Bank of England in Libor rigging has been uncovered by BBC Panorama.

The 2008 recording adds to evidence the central bank repeatedly pressured commercial banks during the financial crisis to push their Libor rates down.

Libor is the rate that banks lend to each other and it sets a benchmark for mortgages and loans for ordinary customers.

The Bank of England said Libor was not regulated in the UK at the time.

Banks setting artificially low Libor rates is called lowballing.

The recording calls into question evidence given in 2012 to the Treasury select committee by former Barclays boss Bob Diamond and Paul Tucker, the man who went on to become the deputy governor of the Bank of England.

Golf = Chaps whacking their balls as hard as they can in order to provide a satisfactory result.
Such things have no place in a nice polite site like VEF.

Golf won't help you comprehend 1% of that. Seriously. But chess players would understand
I guess, as usual, I was not clear enough. I meant that as a spectator both games are boring as hell to me. Golf does have a slight advantage of there possibly being a decent looking woman or two in the gallery.

You people remind me of what one of my favorite people used to say about golf.

Fly dis-United

Why was a passenger dragged off a US flight?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39554421

Hard to believe there is not more to this story, the airline apparently overbooked so chose 4 people to eject themselves, no wonder the Doctor in this story kicked off, if they ferked up so bad they should have made pains to offer an incentive, free flights, upgrade on an alternative flights etc, it's hard to believe in this day and age a major airline would allow itself to be publicly ridiculed

Step forward United Airlines - incompetent wankers of the Week

You open my eyes, seriously

We see golf as an inactivity for wealthy middle-agers, who like the open-air, but have no idea what to do there, and that's why golf was invented

But I'd never heard of golf-hooligans before. Is that why golf gets crowds?

Reminds of a story I read a few days ago. I forget the airline's name but for those who may not know for US airlines anyway if you are really fat they make you buy two seats. This particular airline made this man buy two seats but when he boarded they were in separate rows??
I am sure glad I only fly once a year to see my son.
