I was honestly half way down the stairs towards the exit in disgust at Erikson losing the ball in that way. Blokes were kicking the iron fences on the staircases down from the THIRD tier at the Etihad. Then some wag shouted 'It's been disallowed for offside VAR'
I shot back up those stairs and then stayed in the ground for a further 20 minutes!!!! Amsterdam booked and my match ticket guaranteed. Who said: the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was the only place you could watch Champions League Football??? Levy all along!!!! And Poch has made ONE GOOD signing this season!!!! |

Didn't we say it was GOOD.... @ mitchspur....
I can't do pics... yet.... BUT... if I could I would juxtapose a Pep GIF of him going wild, runnin' rantin n' runnin after Sterling's "winning goal" With a young, Poch. Silent with a bandaged head in an after match pic at his home club. How about 2 English-Only Euro Cup-Finals Should speed Brexit anyway |

The recent round of european games were fascinating; Juve bought CR7 to increase their chances of winning the big prize, and the rest of the team has perceptively been a step back from their previous form. They'll win the Scudetto but given the domestic quality, so they should. MU were always chancing it...IF everyone was firing on all cylinders they had a puncher's chance, but really, it wasn't going to happen. Post exit PSG have been in a daze, with an outbreak of injuries so deep into their squad that you do wonder...? Barca, and this is not the Barca of old, are being talked up as the team to beat - because they have Messi. Meanwhile Spuds have Son but Liverpool have a defence and a manager who has worked out the simple fact that has thus far seemingly eluded Pep - stop the opposition scoring and your own chances of winning increase considerably. And the latter might just decide where the trophy ends up this season... |

Meanwhile...
back in the Championship, the early kick off sees Sheffield United, trailing Leeds, needing a win against Nottingham Forest. The Blades are without their two main goalscorers...naturally they run out comfortable 2-0 winners. At Elland Road, Leeds have the chance to consolidate their second place against lowly Wigan, who are teetering on the brink of the relegation places. Leeds are awarded an early penalty and miss. Wigan are down to ten men and Bamford puts Leeds ahead. And, then, against ten men, Leeds manage to concede two goals and second place in the league (on goal difference), proving that possession means bugger all if you don't take your chances. Pep G is a disciple of Marcelo Bielsa. Today the similarity showed, for the wrong reason.... At the moment the Blades are now favourites for the automatic promotion place behind Norwich, as Leeds face an Easter Monday trip to Brentford, one of their 'bogey' grounds, followed by their last home match of the season against in-form Villa. Leeds are currently looking at a play-off semi against Middlesbro, whilst Villa could take on WBA in a cracking prospect of a midlands clash. PS - make no mistake - despite that chatty manner I am truly madly deeply fucked right off with today's pathetic result and performance - clearly some of the first team thought all they had to do to win was turn up; Wigan thoroughly desreved their victory. Football: there really is no other game which can give you so many highs and lows, so frequently...Raheem Sterling might agree. Last edited by pierrelm; April 19th, 2019 at 08:39 PM.. Oh Dear.......
SPANISH media report Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus are just two out of a possible eight players that have asked to leave Manchester City in the summer.

They clear out the mediocre every time they appoint a new manager who then goes out and buys more of the same expensive mercenaries Its a shame the contracts these guys are on arent results based with a very low base for losing instead of a high base for just turning up. We had a team years ago who were known as the good time party club They introduced results based contracts - 100% for a win 50% for a loss and suddenly they started winning games and then titles. OGS has voiced his concerns about this awful squad of players and his desire to improve the squad, but he has a severe handicap that could hold back his chances of improving the squad....Woodenhead. My main concern is the possibility of losing de Gea, he could walk into virtually all of the top European squads and improve them, the chances of winning major silverware look more and more remote at OT, so maybe he will leave? Pogba and Lukaku can leave today as far as i'm concerned. I see a world-class player in the making with Martial, provided he has quality players around him so we get the very best out of him. |
