Across the internet are several sites, including this one, that are all posting the images of Lena Headey's walk of shame in Game Of Thrones and describing them as having a body double and CGI. I have to wonder why.

Almost a year ago Lena Headey herself stated she would be doing her own nudity for the walk of shame, and at this late date I see no reason to disbelieve her. For starters, it was Emilia Clarke that stated that she would do no more nudity, while Lena Headey not only made no such claim, but expressed that she had no problem with it. Second, she said she was doing it herself because she could not see a good reason not to.

Third, and this relates to the claim that it isn't her directly, the body of the woman in the stills looks just like hers, save that the tattoos have been covered with makeup. I therefore have to ask; are they claiming that it's a body double because there are no visible tattoos? Or perhaps that they didn't believe her when she said she was going to do her own nudity for the scene? Do they seriously believe that the kind of CG necessary to put Lena Headey's head and face on someone else's body was something Game Of Thrones' production company could afford at the end of their production season?

Frankly, I'm at a loss.

I think you greatly over-estimate the cost and difficulty of using CGI to map one actor's face and performance onto another.

I also think you greatly underestimate the budget Game of Thrones has been given by HBO. They've done plenty of on-screen stuff that's way more ambitious than a simple head-swap. Did you see the previous episode, "Hardhome," with a 20-minute battle sequence featuring a giant, and wights (that is, zombies) with decaying bodies and limbs, etc.

In any case, it's quite well-documented and openly discussed by the show's makers that a body double was used, and CGI used to put Lena Headey's face on that double's body.

According to one site Lena felt her body shape wasn't at it's most flattering and decided to go the cgi route, she is pregnant after all, the big surprise was that the body double she chose wasn't more sculpted.

Of course it is a body double: 1) Lena was pregnant during filming, 2) Lena has dark hair; the body in the walk of shame has blonde pubic hair (If you don't change the eyebrows, why bother with the carpet?), 3) have you seen Lena's tats?, 4)the producers acknowledge that a body double was used.

The double is really hot. The download will of the clip will get lots of play from me.

I'm just going to address the points you have made as to why she could well have done it, and only said it was a body double because she was embarrassed by how the scene ended up looking, and no longer wanted to have people think it was actually her.

1) No she wasn't. The scene was filmed in September last year, and since she isn't due until next month, which is ten months later, she obviously didn't conceive until after filming of the scene was completed.

2) Hair can be dyed. It is in fact the easiest way to alter someone's appearance. Saying this is proof is actually ridiculous.

3)Tattoos can be easily covered, by makeup or in-camera effects, and of late with CG. You didn't really think all of Pamela Anderson's appearances on Baywatch were shot before she got any tattoos, do you? Same deal here.

4) The producers want to keep a valuable member of their cast happy. If that means using a body double, they'll do it. If that means saying they did when they didn't, they'll do that too.

As a matter of pragmatism, I'll concede the producers' claim of a body double, and not press the issue. I just find it strange that back when they filmed the scene Lena Headey made much of her doing it herself, yet once it came time to show it she balked at any such admission. A little consistency is in order, especially since it was Emilia Clarke that announced she wasn't going to do any more nudity for Game of Thrones.
