The funny thing about so called relationship experts is many of them have been married multiple times. Clearly they either don't follow their own advice or its just plain BS. I tend to go with the latter most of the time. Either way they are clearly not suitable to the role.

Depends on how one looks at it,
You could call them at experts in fucking up multiple relationships and as long as when they give advise they admit their past wrongs

I think perhaps what Snowy is referring/alluding to is that those "celebs" with their own TV shows giving advice for happy and successful relationships. We all know the track records for most celebs ... they go through partners/spouses like we change our socks or underwear!
Take Dr Phil, and others like him, their relationships are no model of perfection, but yet they have the audacity and the mitigated gall to give advice to others -- and often times go into a rage with their guests who had not conducted their relationship/marriage in a manner that they feel was fitting and proper!

Very true. Its not just relationship "experts" though its society in general. From the obese Doctor telling you to lose weight to the Politicians talking about morality whilst shagging around. It seems we live in a society where its acceptable to follow the phrase "do as I say and not as I do".

We all make mistakes and we all give advice but most of us don't make the same mistake twice. So when we give advice its because we have learned from our mistakes and therefore its valid advice. Someone who talks about successful relationships for example who is a multiple divorcee clearly hasn't learned. So their advice is not valid as it clearly doesn't work in my view.

Sadly and unfortunately, you'd be surprised how many (naive) viewers out there think upon those idiots with their own TV shows as some type of Gods and fall for that crap!
You can also thank shows like Oprah, Ellen, Jenny Jones, etc for putting the "bug" in women's ears for why women have become so outspoken and ballsy over the years ... it is from advice like: Stand your ground ladies; stand tall and proud; don't take his crap; fight back ... yadda, yadda, yadda!

And yet I know a significant number of women who are over 50, lonely and rather sad.

Not sure they are leg-over material (although, of course, I believe you 100% when you say that is not your motive ) - and lots of baggage to deal with.

I'll do you a big favour and keep the vital info to myself.

I have to say that I don't really know what this relationship industry thing is and perhaps on reflection, I'm not in a standard kind of relationship as things are mostly taken for granted and seem to work well without any deep soul searching. We rarely argue, generally agree on important stuff and I know if I'm being honest there are a fair number of allowances made for me and I have some annoying bad habits. So, in my case, things have generally got better as time has passed and I would now find life seriously difficult if I was left on my own.

But many of my friends have been through painful divorces, simply because they married for all the wrong reasons and suddenly realised they were living with a stranger they didn't like very much. Do we every really know what anyone is like? Perhaps not. If your partnership is not working out and you've tried your very best to fix this, then the chances are that it's never going to happen and you are going to carry on clearly feeling unhappy. I think the answer to the problem is probably there already.
