Somebody posted the question recently, why was the erotica/porn of the 1960's the best. Thought I'd post a series to answer this question. The masturbation material of the 1950's, 60's and even the early 70's was excellent.


Reason #1 Ordinary Women
Much of the easily available over the counter/top shelf erotica featured ordinary women. The sort of girl who might live down the street from you. Not over-blown porn professionals, not the kind of amateur who goes dogging or posts online but ordinary women just doing things you'd love the girl next door to do but knew she didn't. I know many men get off on crude unrealistic porn but for many of us, certainly for me, the fantasy in looking at porn as you wanked [indeed as you wank now] is being able to really imagine that the woman in the picture was someone you really would want to play around with. Reason #2 Sexy Bums
In the 50's and 60's, the law controlling porn and erotica was much tighter. Also, there was a distinct limit on what a local newsagent could sell and not face local criticism so the images were more tame compared to today. This meant that publishers and photographers had to be more creative and work to produce images and scenarios that were erotic whilst not actually showing too much. This accounts for much of the sexiness that oozes out of photos of the era. Bottoms were of course permissable so they feature as the subject of far more photos from the 50/60's than they would today. And they are often intensely sexy especially when accompanied by stockings and suspenders or highlighted by tan lines! Here are some examples to prove the point

Thde truth is that you grew up with it and, like ducklings, we imprint on things at certain ages. So you find 1960s porn is best if you were at the right ages then - say, 15-20. For me it is the late 1970s and early 1980s for leggy dancers like Pan's People and Legs & Co in heels. But it is just that - a questin of your age and what you were exposed to. If you doubt that, think how easy it is to learn a language when young and how hard when old: you are primed for things at various ages.

Almost totally true... Maybe for others it is about mags and loops, but for a lot of us, it was the first set of girls/women who's clothes you took off or who took off their clothes for you. It's hard to find a more intense visual memory than those. That's what got imprinted on me.

There is one thing about LATE '60s, (and early '70s), erotica that made it so memorable even to those who were born much earlier, (many of whom are no longer with us ATM) - PUBIC HAIR... that treasure that people of the '80s so cavalierly discarded which appears to be in the throes of the beginning of a comeback. I'm rootin for it bigtime. In the meantime, we have the photos and movies that wonderful era when that naturally beautiful mystery region of women's bodies was revealed to us right out in the open... Untrimmed. Unsculpted. Gorgeous....

Reason #3

See-Thru Nighties and Baby Dolls

Thanks for the comments guys. To continue, another sexy outcome of the restrictions on erotica in the 50's and 60's was the fondness for models in nighties and baby dolls. These were what women wore at that time so inevitably they would feature. At the same time, Nylon was the in thing so lingerie was mainly made from this material and often see-thru. See through or opaque nighties and panties feature frequently in magazines like Spick and Span, Beuatiful Britons etc. They enabled the photogprapher to be creative in producing enticing poses whilst remaining within the confines of law and market. The results were deliciously sexy - the hint of a dark bush, breasts and (best of all) nipples lifting the thin transparent fabric. Here are some examples

Reason #4

Stockings and Suspenders

In the 50's and 60's women still wore stockings and suspenders (or girdles of course). Tights didn't become common until the late 60's. So naturally pin ups and porn featured stockings frequently. After all, women spent most of the time making sure their stocking tops and suspenders were not on show. Guys took great delight in seeing an accidentally exposed stocking welt! So a deliberately (or indeed accidentally) exposed stocking top, suspender and bare thigh was a great photo turn on and still well within the law of the time.


Stockings and suspenders are still off the scale sexy which is evidenced by the fact that they are still around and the frequency with which they still appear in porn but the original genuine article are the greatest aid to wanking. Proof is found in how simple many of these fabulous photos are - just a pretty woman lifting her skirt or adjusting a suspender strap.


For guys who were around at the time, they are great erotic nostalgia. We can remember how great is was seeing a flash of stocking top or sliding your hand up the rough nylon mesh to soft naked thigh and up to a a warm nylon covered cunt!
