that's a question you better address to the P&H staff and not to the VEF staff. we don't have any influence on this and also couldn't explain what's going on with the P&H service. or contact slid3r via PM, he doesn't check our forum frequently.

I`ve switched to ImageVenue now, which has solved my `Red X` disappearing posts problem

Well I didn't mean to sound accusatory, but slid3r has the admin moniker,
and seemed to be associated with them in my thinking. When I look at
my photos that have been shrunk here, within my P&H account, clicking
on the original size button, makes no difference, as it stays the same
thumbnail size. It's why I seemed so alarmed. lol The only reason I use
P&H at all, is because I can post a picture the exact size within a post
of mine. I love image venue, but can not see how to post a full sized
photo. If someone knows how to do this, I wish they could let me know,
or perhaps suggest another reliable filehost that let's one post a picture
in it's full size.

slid3r is the owner of both, P&H and VEF and he has many other tasks on his schedule. so he isn't able to be part of the regular staff of this forum. so please better contact him or P&H support forum directly if you want to have a quick response / support for your problem. you will not get a quick help if you ask here, cause the regular VEF staff isn't involved into P&H.

Never ceases to amaze me how these free services get peoples backs up
when they go down for any amount of time

Today P & H is the bad boy and imagevenue is the saviour except it doesnt even come close to offering the full range of options that P & H does which most wont see given VEF has restrictions in place which make the differences largely obsolete

Just comparing things like what file types,size of files,thumbnail size etc
and you might as well be comparing an apple to an orange

Back in July - Sept 2010 imagevenue was the bad boy and imagebam was the saviour

Back in October 2009 imagebam was the bad boy...going down for maintenance 6-12 hours a day for 3 weeks...imagevenue the saviour

Back in April 2008 P & h went offline for awhile when the HD server died

Before that freeimagehost was lauded before it died a sad death

They are all fallible and to see anyone of them as being a safe reliable haven all year round 24/7 is lunacy which is why they all say back up your content and dont rely solely on us

Free? To who? The owner of any "free" site that gets their business from
the people whose photos posted across the internet brings others to that
site, or the people that actually use that site to host their photos? Because
frankly, Im not aware of a photo hosting site that one would have to pay
to use. Not saying there aren't any, just that if there is, then I'd like for
you to show me an example of that site here at VEF. One thing I've learned
this past year, is that many things are taken for granted, and that people
will bitch even when the sun is shinning lol Without pop ups that pester
the bejeezus out of us, photo sites would have to resort to some other
means to stay in business. Without waiting times and other tactics, file
hosting sites would have to resort to another way to "convince" people
to sign up for a premium account. None are perfect, but none are a
complete waste either. But if something goes wrong with any one of them,
you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be hell to pay. Is there
another way??? lol The fact is gents.....the internet has accustomed all
of us to the age of freeness. Too many think that if it's online, then it's
their God given right to be able to get it for free and get it by gawd right
now! lol Years ago......just free was a wonder to behold. Not any more tho!

to begin with, was not a quick fix, only assurance that many of the pictures
that I have stored with P&H are not permanently damaged.... that's all.

April 2008 should make anyone think twice about using P & H for any material they value highly

To me its the same old story...dont put all your content into one host
back it up via multiple sources both online & offline


I understand people getting peeved off when they've bought a premium membership and nothing has improved on their free experience but when something costs you nothing i simply dont get the level of angst directed towards them

The fact that people are making money while running them by utilising different income streams from affiliate programs which pay for the servers bandwidth is neither here nor there to me

This seems to make them a target when they dont quite get it right for some reason

P&H may have lots of features, but for someone like me who has to access the interweb with a mobile dongle most of the time (or piss poor wireless on high days and holidays), the snails pace loading speed destroys any benefits it may have.

Note however, I don't know if it's caused by P&H or filesor. Are they the same thing? Perhaps the more technically informed amongst the community could enlighten us?

I'm about as tech-dumb as a person can be, but I'm suspecting that something on, or associated with the Pimp site is getting into my computer during the few downloads I do.

Of course, I have a pop-up blocker but my McAfee goes nuts trying to look at something and I've also been victimized with porno spam going out to my regular e-mail list. Like I said, I'm tech-dumb but the instances of isolated downloads I do and spamming seem to coincide.

Not trying to run down or pump up any host, just frustrated and embarrassed by the spam.
