For me the film that best captures this sort of thing is Night in the Museum.

In it Ben Stiller plays a security guard whose job it is to protect the New York Museum of Natural History during the night, at which time all the exhibits come to life has the result of some Egyptian plaque that bears a curse.

The thing is he's the only security guard there during the nighttime when the objects come to life.
Why would the Museum of Natural History in New York employ just ONE SINGLE SECURITY GUARD to work the nightshift all by himself, ALONE?

It's a big building, and if something does happen (like a gang of a 12 armed robbers for example) then even he can't be in all places at all times.

627) When on a motorway, the baddies learn their car is being followed when they look back once and see 1 car pull into the 'slow' lane from the middle lane, even though both lanes have 5 or 6 cars in.

628) When the baddies are about run the goodies car off the road in an attempt to kill them, they always have to constantly beep their horns and put their headlights on, even in daytime.
