NRBQ around 1991, Big Al still in the band and Terry wasn't f'ing around too much.

Bob Dylan in 92, when he had just entered another unintelligible vocal phase at this show at an amusement park (I don't recall if there was a puppet show afterwards). Two things made this show for me:
1) a blistering harmonica bit he did at the opening, not using the holder and trying to play guitar at the same time he showed he could really wail with the harp.
2) as he likes to play songs he feels like playing at the moment instead of staying locked to the set list at one point he had to gather the band around him and explain how the unrehearsed song was supposed to go. It very nearly fell apart in mid-tune but they managed to lurch through it whatever it was, just great.

Deep Purple- 4 shows on the Perfect Strangers tour. Best of the 4 was Philadelphia March 85. Dead on performance, sound was excellent, great seats.

I don't travel around much for gigs so mainly catch them in my home town, the best I have been to are (in no particular order):

The White Stripes
Beautiful South
The Stranglers
The Specials
Ocean Colour Scene
Jools Holland

Quite an eclectic mix as you can see.

Pere Ubu at The Modern Theater in Boston, 1978. Touring behind the Dub Housing album, they never sounded better.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at The Roxy in Boston, 1998. Maximum intensity.

Tori Amos at the State Theater in Portland Maine, 1994. Before she became a parody of herself, she was magical.

Difficult to say really, lots of great gigs, many of them festivals.

My first gig, August 1987 Monsters of Rock in Pforzheim, West Germany (as it was then). Deep Purple headlining, along with Helloween, Cinderella, Ratt, Metallica and Dio. Purple blew me away with their laser light show.

Donington's Monsters of Rock a year later, Iron Maiden headlining. Helloween, Guns n' Roses, Megadeth, David Lee Roth and Kiss. Unfortunately that was the year two kids died during Guns n' Roses' set, crushed when the crowd surged forward.

Megadeth in October 1991, Berlin. Supported by Pantera - incredible energy from both bands.

Slayer in London, 1999. Supported by System of a Down and Sepultura. Due to the lousy public transport in this country I missed SOAD and Seputura, but Slayer were immense. I remember getting a shiver down my back when the sound effects start of "Raining Blood" began.

Halford in London, 2000. Support was supposed to be one of my favourite bands, Overkill, but they couldn't make it. I remember being seriously pee'd off when I got to the gig to see the notices. However Halford just blew me away - a consumate master of the metal concert.

AC/DC at Milton Keynes, 2001. Supported by Megadeth, Queens of the Stone Age and The Offspring. It was the 5th time I'd seen the Aussie rockers, and it has to be said, the best.
