Well I am glad that people here now have a better idea of Australia and its porn as a result of this thread.

Trust me though, I am not exaggerating about the situation here. The conservatism in this country is very broad and very bizzare and you have to live here to get a true feel for it.

If you really want to doubt the conservative nature of this country though, consider the fact that we are about to get a national firewall to rival the sort of thing that a totalitarian state like China has. And we are supposed to be a democracy? When it gets up and running, chances are it will block me from websites such as this one.

We currently have a smaller filter running. The govt claims that it is to block child porn from Australia. Only 30% of the websites being filtered out are child porn. The rest are "other" websites such as regular porn and pro suicide.

One of our most successful local porn websites, abbywinters.com, has just been forced to pack up its operations and will be moving to Europe, due to heavying by the Victorian Police.

Trust me, I am not exaggerating.

About the only good news concerning the stupid internet filter idea is that the numbers in the Senate (after this weekend's election) means it won't get passed. Agree with many of the others that we have weird laws when it comes to porn. The most conservative state has been Queensland, which for a long time banned US Penthouse (and would you believe, Playboy) and only allowed a censored version of Australian Penthouse could be sold there. Yet one of the most famous artists in Australian history, Norman Lindsay, is most famous for his nude paintings - the films Age of Consent (Helen Mirren) and Sirens (Elle Macpherson, Tara Fitzgerald, Portia de Rossi, Kate Fischer, Pamela Rabe) are based on him. The ACT is the most relaxed place, allowing porn to be sold legally and having legalised brothels.

as per the days of all 'bible thumpers', prohibitionists and the like, I always think of the saying 'the road to Hell is paved with good intentions'. I'll be damned - this is as weird as it gets. Penthouse banned? I live in a country where the Orthodox church is pretty strong and always tries to interfere with policy, education etc - still as far as porn is concerned, you can still go downtown in a kiosk and get an illustrated mag with a DP on the front page.

In fact, it's so ridiculous you won't believe; a kid can go and get smokes for the dad and a skin mag for him and his mates. It's funny, but we used to joke in the 80s that the Church don't want porn banned cause priests, vicars etc are the most devoted consuming lot anyway.

Hell yeah, I saw a part of the video at a store I used to frequent. Apparently the owner of the store knew the producer of the video in a roundabout way. And Sinnamon got into it more than her husband (whose idea it was) thought she would. At least that's what I heard. Damn she was hot, especially for those of us who love buxom babes.
