actually, this is from a comic strip by Brian Fies...
called The Last Mechanical Monster. It's about what happened to the mad scientist who Superman defeated in the Fleischer cartoon The Mad Scientist - after he finally gets out of prison.
For those interested, the strip starts here.

Tales From the Edge 11, Special Steranko issue
Here are my scans of pages from my copy of the magazine. It had a fold-out cover and fold-out back - I'm posting most of those 8 covers, along with selected pages from inside, mostly to feature the art. Obviously, it was one of those magazines where the staff had to show off, hence the sideways text, etc. Some of the text is by Jim, some of it by the staff.

do either of these stories look like Wally Wood?
I got a copy of the black and white book 'Sally the Sleuth (1934-1953)', and it has a forward by Tim Hanley, a comic book historian. In it he claims that "Murder Wears a Mask" is some of his earliest work. A pencilink ******** claims that "A Noose for News" is Wood's work. What do yo think?
