I was too young to see Big John race (started following F1 in 1967/68), but I was fortunate enough to see him at Assen during the first Centennial TT in 1992(?).
A lot of world champions were there and many rode or raced the bikes they won their championships with, but none so as John Surtees on his Norton-500.
He really flew over the TT-circuit of Assen, a lot faster than anybody else and riding so clean and easy... it looked effortless.
I became a fan right there and then and I still have a good picture of him in action that day. Memories...
