Sport media guides from the NFL, NCAA, NBA, NHL and MLB. I have over 800. And starting five years ago, I collect guitar plectrums (picks) from various bands. I have 200 of those, most from Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, but I have picks from the Stone Temple Pilots, Todd Rundgren, the Gin Blossoms, Pearl Jam and others.

I used to collect old school - adidas SL80s, Trimm Trab, Stan Smith, Wimbledon, Forest Hills, Puma Roma, Clydes, Dart, Nike Internationalist, New Balance 992s, Diadora Borge Elite, even Dunlop Green Flash! More to do with football terraces and european ties than creeping around trees though Tabler - in my case anyway - those were the days!

Star Wars figures, I'm such a major fan, and I can't wait for the live action series coming up.

Books
I have accumulated a large and unwieldy book collection. I bought my first book when I was 11 years old and I still have it: a cheap paperback of an undistinguished war novel meticulously held together with cellotape. I give books as gifts but hardly ever either give away or throw away any books from my own sprawling collection.
I have two large bookcases full in my flat plus an overflowing bookcase in my old childhood bedroom: my mother occasionally makes discontented noises about how I'm still using her house as storage, but what disturbed me more was finding out recently that both my niece and my nephew have made full use of this library for years. It was very naive of me to think that they wouldn't, but hell, these are my books...They're old enough now that it makes not a lot of difference, but I was more than a little bit perturbed to realise they had both read James Jones' The Thin Red Line before their tenth birthdays. Precocious little brats! I would certainly have moved that one out of their reach had I known about it. I've got several DH Lawrence novels as well, though not the seriously over-rated Lady Chatterley's Lover (''Gentlemen of the jury, is this a book you would want your nieces and nephews to read?''). Its a good job I don't own a copy of The Story of O. Of course, they can read Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as much as they like...

Alien and Predator mementos--I've got a lot of their toys in my collection (the novels from what I've read are lousy beyond belief); some Eddie from Iron Maiden momentos (including an Edddie jack-in-the-box that sings The Number of the Beast!). I also collect paperback books to read--I've got a bunch of Stephen King (big surprise), HP Lovecraft (a very good eerie story writer that Stephen King tried to emulate early on in his career), a few HG Wells, some Tom Clancy , and Martin Cruz Smith--MCS is brilliant! I have figurines of the predator, several of diferent forms of the xenomorph, and one of Ozzy.
Growing up I actually had this toy! It gave both me and my brother such nightmares..! lol I think mom got it at the store for me and paid, $15 for it. I've seen them on ebay go for close to $200 nowadays. Last edited by Berferd; August 8th, 2009 at 11:28 PM.. |
