This is a group of far far far lefties who even make the Greens look moderate, They ain't a political party, nope, they're a mob who create those rent a crowds for protests, oppose anything middle of the road or to the right of politics.

What's on their website is tame to what they believe. This is the kind of group that if your views on anything isn't to left of centre they will quickly add "ist" or "phobe" to what your belief is.

I believe in letting in refugees after careful screening here,
Not this group, nope. they want to let any refugee on unscreened and then after on our soil with a foot in the door, screen them then.

But those with my views are quickly labeled Xenophobes Islamaphobes just to put down our views even though I agree with refugees here.

Then there is Gay Marriage, not legal here, yet.

The Government want the whole public to decide and have a vote on it, even though it could be non binding. But nope, Get Up don't want a public vote on it, even though it goes directly against the word democracy peppered through their website, nope they are using every single excuse under the sun on why only the Government should have a say because if only they did the law would more than likely pass as most politicians in this day and age wouldn't dare vote against it.

I once posted the word "Cunt" in a comment under a Daily Telegraph piece about the scourge of Political Correctness. Of course, it was censored: the Telegraph's own version of Political Correctness.

Two things: Jewish people might be a member of a religion rather than a race, but you try telling the Nazis that: once a Jew, always a Jew - you could not get out of it by converting, and it your grandparents were Jewish you were Jewish as well.

The same thing - pretty much goes for Muslims: Muslims tend to be brown (sometimes black): the people who have got it in for them are more concerned with that than anything: Hindus and Sikhs have been attacked for being Muslim (white Muslims not so much - where are all the anti Muslim protesters at Richard Thompson concerts?).

It is more than 50 years ago that a Tory MP used as his campaign slogan something about wanting to have black people as neighbours if you voted labour (though he didn't put it like that - google Peter Griffiths, 1964): you can't do that now - Political Correctness gone mad.

My post above yours where I linked to Get Up, That's actually led by mostly younger 20 to 30 years olds. This group with little or no real life experience and though many would be educated have the balls to tell older people, even though I'm only 49 what I need to think ???

That's an insult, not a threat.

The threat for them and their kind is the result in the US election, If I were a US citizen I really doubt I'd have voted for Trump, But I can see part of the reason why he got in, and that's every day people who do everyday things fed up with shit. Trump failure with many wordings in his election just might prove to be his successes.

There was a time in politics here where opposing sides debated, disagreed and carried on, this mob will label you with a word about your beliefs, and try use ridicule and sway weaker minds using that tactic, maybe you're right and come to think of it, it's probably a bit of both with telling you ........ Keep in mind, I've heard this Get Up mob on talk back radio and seen some of the protests they have been involved in, they will put down opposition to gutter tactics.

IIRC, the Jewish belief is that if you mother was Jewish, then you are considered a Jew. The Nazi policy was that if you father was Jewish, then the Nazis considered you a Jew. So not only were the Nazis anti-semetic, they were also misogynist.

A group of Washington State University professors have decried “discourses of free speech” in an open letter to the campus community, suggesting such defenses of the First Amendment hurt “marginalized students.”

The letter, signed by about two dozen scholars at the school, comes about a month and a half after a 20-foot “Trump Wall” was erected there, prompting a heated protest between students.

The scholars go on to suggest more must be done to crack down on what they consider hate speech and acts, telling the campus community that the defense of freedom of speech and freedom of expression is harmful:

It is not enough [to] encourage “open-mindedness” and “sensitivity” especially when these passive efforts and rhetoric invariably lead to a culture that accepts and tolerates bigotry and harassment; a campus culture that hides behind “tolerance” and discourses of free speech undeviatingly creates a campus that is especially disempowering to marginalized students.

We must create a campus that asserts that we are anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-xenophobia, anti-homophobic, anti-Islamophobic, anti-ableism, and anti-bigotry. We must work to create mechanisms and structures that combat hate, which empower all constituencies to be active in our collective efforts to rid the campus of bigotry and systemic inequality.

Students at the University of Pennsylvania removed a portrait of Shakespeare from a prominent location in the school’s English department after complaining that he did not represent a diverse range of writers.

The chair of the department confirmed in a statement that the portrait was stripped from the wall by students "as a way of affirming their commitment to a more inclusive mission for the English department”. A more inclusive English department? I don't even know WTF that means.

In Shakespeare's place, the students replaced the portrait with a photograph of Audre Lorde, a black feminist and author.

In a true show of cowardice, the department chair went on to confirm that the portrait of Lorde will remain in Shakespeare’s place until he and his colleagues can figure out what to do.

BTW: The school’s 'Code of Student Conduct' explicitly prohibits students from “stealing, damaging, defacing, or misusing the property or facilities of the university or of others". I guess that's forgivable when it comes to dealing with a racist, sexist, bigoted homophobe like Shakespeare.

I really fear for any country where their supposed best and brightest are protected from reality by these stupid ideas. These students are supposed to go on and be the stars of the future and to make their countries great again. Yet I bet a large number of them will end up druggies or drunks as they come to terms with reality. That reality is life sucks, its hard, its not fair and there are no safe spaces to hide. At some point they will feel rejected, they will have to pick an option and right now they are not used to that. It seems schools and colleges are no longer equipping students for real life but they are protecting them from the big bad world. Well the things is you dumb fucks, these idiots will be in that big bad world soon enough. The problem is they are going in blind and without any help. Book smarts are all well and good but you need street/life smarts also and these idiots have none.
