Ah.. that cleared up a few things for me hos. Your first explanation didn't clear up the difference between blocked and banned in accordance with the rules. But this one did: He is not permanently locked out then. Btw, Is my explanation/speculation in the prior post somewhat on the mark, or not?

not exactly, kogi. we don't use the status "blocked" only for temporary bans and we don't use the "blocked" status in dependancy to the level/amount of broken rules (detailed explanation already given here). "blocked" can also mean: banned forever. but if we ban temporary, then yes, we always use the "blocked" status.

now i understand the confusion..

it wasn't our intention to show a difference between these 2 statuses within the rules. our intention there is just to show a list of all available user-statuses, with a short explanation, depending to the level of contribution (some can't, some started to do, some have done a bit, some have done much, some have done a hell lot ... )

Hi Hos, thank you for clearing up the "blocked"/"banned" question. I find these forums very interesting and (with your permission) would love to know a few things on the administration side of VPF.

1. How was the Forum started originally and by whom?

2. How do you 'police' the Forum? (who decides what is offensive etc.).

3. Who has the 'final' say on what appears on the Forum? I can see there are Moderators ... but, who do they answer to?

4. What is "Former Staff"?

5. Is the Forum in any way illegal?

Last one (honest!) ...

6. How do you meet or exchange how you change the Forum?

Realise you might be busy Hos ... but if you get a spare minute or so would love to understand a little more on how these Forums actually work.

Thank You. I.J.

oh man, you have questions. where's my coffee, where's my cigarette?

Quote:
1. How was the Forum started originally and by whom?
sorry, i have no idea. that happened long before i dropped in by accident. if it's important, i can ask the board owner.

Quote:
who decides what is offensive etc.
"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

sadly, in todays world between sadists and masochists it's not really easy to go this "human way of life". everyone has his own limits and values. but i guess it's clear to all that especially a porn forum needs some people who take care about the behaviour people are showing "against" each other. "especially" because our topic is special, private and intimate. hurting other peoples feelings with foul comments is more "easy" in our forum than - for example - in a football forum.

and each member, not only each moderator, is challenged to take care of each other. so, if you think that someone is offensive, it is your (free) decision to report this behaviour (or try to deal with it via PM). a section moderator will do his best to find a wise decision in the end - to solve a conflict or to avoid conflicts from being started.

but i hope we all come to this place for enjoyment and not for fights. dealing with bad behaviour is really nothing we are adored to.

Quote:
3. Who has the 'final' say on what appears on the Forum? I can see there are Moderators ... but, who do they answer to?
each forum has different forum leaders (the assigned moderators of a section). and each section has at least one super-moderator (the red ones) who is responsible for everything which happens within a section (unless it depends only the section).

on top of the super-moderators are the admins, they have some more "functions" (concerning rules, banned content, user accounts, forum emails).

and on top of them is the owner of this forum. if he thinks all is just wasted time, he can pull the plug and the lights go out (that's what i would call "the final say").

Quote:
4. What is "Former Staff"?
members who were moderators of VEF for more than a few weeks but have decided to retire.

Quote:
5. Is the Forum in any way illegal?
hmm. well... next question...

Quote:
6. How do you meet or exchange how you change the Forum?
it would be cool to think that we would meet frequently, sitting together with some pints of beer and barbeque, sharing ideas about the future of our forum.. but the reality is nothing like that. we have a moderator-only forum for all issues which need to be discussed inside the team.

satisfied?

Yeah ... I'm "satisfied" as you say and thank you for your prompt reply.

Think the words ... "satisfied" implies that I have wasted your valuable time for which I apologise.

But, even I have heard that coffee and cigarettes are bad for you ... so, you never know mate I could have just prolonged your life for a couple of minutes?

Thanks again Hos ... promise I won't bother you with such stupid trivia again.

Salut! I.J.

1. The Forum was started by erwin, he is still a member here, a VIP

2. Offensive posts or comments, are judged by the Mods of that section or when members report anything.

3. If anything needs discussing its normally discussed by the Mods until a decision is made, if no concrete decision is reached then normally Admin will have a final say

4. All ex mods are given the option of becoming Formee Staff or Veterans when they retire.

5. ..... whenever we get a compaint, we always comply with the wishes wether they be an ex model or major company.

6. discuss, threaten, cry, beg...... then reach a decision

good questions

"what info sean??? or am i the only one not seeing something attached..???"

I just meant the info that would hopefully be posted by a mod about any difference between 'Blocked' and 'Banned' and what may lead to a 'block', so that those members who don't know this stuff can avoid being 'Blocked'.

Posted by hos:

"we set the banned status on spammers and new members who haven't posted much - cause their posts will be removed from the forum entirely and you shouldn't see them as posting members in our threads."

Out of interest hos, how 'new' is a 'new member' and how many posts do they have to do before they are 'Banned' for not posting enough?

If this info isn't in the rules, then I think it would be good for new members to be told this so they have some warning of what's expected. I did read the rules but I don't remember seeing this. If it was in when I joined then all I can say is "Ooops".

I'm lucky I didn't join, make a couple of posts and then have my PC do one of its oh so regular "I'm not working for a few months, so *&^% off, you speccy four-eyed git, and waste some more money getting me repaired! Mwah ha ha ha ha!" kicks.

depends content-related. we had members flooding the board with 50 (pointless) posts who got banned and we had members who contributed with 20 posts (incl. one very unthoughtful one) who got blocked.

in first instance, a new member should read the board rules before he starts posting anything. people who get into trouble either don't read or don't care - and for both types of people a further explanation in the rules won't help much.
