Rock of Ages (2012)
imdb Despite a large acclaimed cast Julianne Hough (American professional ballroom dancer, country music singer and actress) is the obvious star of this 'small town girl goes to Hollywood' Rock Musical/Comedy/Drama. {I'm not a big fan of pop music. She does have a good high register though!} Julianne @VEF |

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064665/?ref_=nv_sr_2 ......One of my all time favourites though haven't seen it for a decade or more...am actually really excited to put this classic on after all these years Has to be Hoffmans best performance ever, right....? IMDB gives it an 8.0.....I.d give it a 9.1.....

"The Borderlands" (2013)
Nicely done "found footage" (a la "paranormal activity" & Blair Witch Project) set in Britain. Its a nice idea, and a well acted film, even if it doesn't quite deliver. The found footage style also makes it more "American" and techy, I'd have been happier with a plain old movie. Would be nice to see more "Brit horror" in this vein-- I've always hoped for something as good as "The Wicker Man". This reminds me quite a bit of an MR James story. Well done on a small budget. |

A long way away from the new Winter Soldier movie it's time for.....
Captain America : Sentinel of Liberty (1979) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078937/ A modern WWII free update with Reb Brown as the FLAG enhanced super soldier Captain America more akin to the Six Million Dollar Man with increased strength and speed along with a super powered motorcycle. No super-villain but it has got a pretty good supporting cast and Heather Menzies in it |

The Unforgiven 1960
An overlooked classic, in my opinion. I think that it is as good as the Eastwood 'Unforgiven' and 'The Searchers'. Like that second movie, this one was also based on a novel by Allen Le May. I can remember when this came out, and was impressed by it. Good performances by the entire cast, I was especially appreciative of those by Audie Murphy (a great departure from all the formulaic westerns shot earlier by the WWII hero), John Saxon, and Joseph Wiseman (much better role for him than as Dr No.) Some people carp about Hepburn not looking 'Indian' enough, but how could everyone have thought her a part of that family if she didn't look 'white'? Others put forth that director John Huston said that he didn't like the movie, but I believe that a lot of that had to do with studio meddling with the end of the picture. I do not believe that there is another western of that era that dealt with race relations in such an even-handed way. In fact, few others showed the Indians as those with right on their side.
