A Bridge Too Far
Major Harry Carlyle is dying of wounds and talking to Lt Colonel John Frost for the last time: Lt Colonel Frost: You know, Harry; I always wanted to ask you, but didn't because I knew you so very much wanted me to and I didn't want to give you the satisfaction; but why the bloody hell do you always carry that umbrella? [Major Carlyle smiles] Major Carlyle: Bad memory, Johnnie. Never could remember the password. Knew no Jerry would carry one. Had to prove I was an Englishman, you see.

Of course! It makes perfect sense that Sarah Palin's election campaign would be run by Moon Nazis! Actually it was a surprisingly good movie. Silly as heck but funny and well made.

I Want My Name Back: Documentary about the dark side of the music industry and its affect on the history of the first successful rap group, The Sugar Hill Gang. The main focus is how The Sugar Hill Gang's shady executive producers duped them into signing bogus contracts that left them penniless and without songwriting credits for music they wrote, specifically their successful signature hit rap songs, "Rapper's Delight" and "Apache". Even worse, the executive producers illegally trademarked the stage names of two of the three original MCs (Wonder Mike and Master Gee) without their permission and effectively stole their identities preventing them from making money even from live shows under their own names. I was pissed after watching this. 7.5 Contracted: A young woman hooks up with a stranger at a friend's party and wakes up with a venereal disease that's eating her from the insides. Though it comes off as a cautionary tale about safe sex, this was creepy. I don't want to say it was original but when's the last time you saw a horror flick about a killer sexually transmitted disease? 6.5 Last edited by KingKeigh; April 2nd, 2014 at 08:05 PM.. |

Noah (2014) Movie audiences these days suffer from a pathological need for complete and utter accuracy. One small divergence from a film's source material propels people to air heated grievances on social media sites. Whatever happened to just talking about whether or not what you saw on the screen was a well-executed story? Ideology and personal beliefs shouldn't follow you into the theater. Darren Aronosky's ambitious telling of the biblical epic does very well for itself. Russell Crowe's Noah is single-minded in his purpose and his towering presence dominates. Emma Watson's pivotal role keeps a crucial plot element in play till the very end. Jennifer Connelly (as "Mrs Noah" ) has little do to beyond dutifully following Crowe's obsession (reminded me of their pairing in A Beautiful Mind) though it can be said she has some influence in his decision making. Tech elements were impressive as well. Aronofsky's films have left me dazzled (Requiem for a Dream), impressed (The Swan), depressed (The Wrestler) and confused (The Fountain), but never bored. Noah should be a crowd pleaser, if the crowds will let it. 8/10 Last edited by Immy; March 31st, 2014 at 06:44 AM.. Reason: Spelling |

Stand Up Guys
Anything with Christopher Walken I watch ,and here he is with Al Pacino and Alan Arkin two great actors , Arkin is superb , Al is still shouting his lines but Walken steals the show . Nice cameo from Mark Margolis who we last saw as the old wheelchair bound mob enforcer in Breaking Bad .
Al gets outa jail after 28yrs hooks up with his old pals Walken and Arkin and they spend one hell of 24hrs together righting wrongs and avenging... The bonus for me was that I saw this beauty in a tight white top great chest playing a waitress , googled her and it was Addison Timlin ....wow http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t15...on-timlin.html its a fun film and the leads are really having a blast, enjoy p.s, it also features Julianna Margolis from the Good Wife
