Currently it's my late lamented dad who forty years ago, thought it was a really good idea to fix security screens on the family beach house with those screws that screw in but don't screw out. Took my brother and me almost a day to get them out...and we had to take out ten entire window frames and the front and back doors.

There's only 1 thing they are good at, turning good workers into bad

My extruder operator, great bloke, rarely makes mistakes, never takes sick days unless he's actually sick. While I was off work for 2 months late last year he got an official warning for not wearing his helmet he then in that same week was refused annual leave to go to a relatives wedding. I saw a change in his attitude after that, not to me but overall, last roster he came to work late one day by 2 hours without notifying he'll be late, but his phone wasn't with him and got another official warning ..... today he phones me up he was gonna start taking sick days just because he can, don't blame him, but all that over crap

I almost lived the same kind of story as your colleague about 6 years ago.

Here is my story. A new department manager of my most important client wanted to save expenses, that they were used to pay since we collaborated together.

These expenses cost nothing in their colossal budget, but that represented about 10% of mine.

The fact was that this little clown was very arrogant when I discussed with him. But he didn't know, that I didn't care about his pressures.
Since I'm 25 years old, I've managed to be financially as independent as possible.

So I went to the direction and politely explained my troubles with him.

- Are you glad about my job ?
- Yes. Very glad.
- Why Mr. X doesn't want to pay anymore these expenses ?
- We have changed our politics !
- Without negociating with me. Do you want to make me a working-poor ?
- Not at all. But we have to save money.
- (I smiling). I know your wages, my expenses per year cost one day of your wages. (I'm not kidding ) So what I propose to you, it's to reduce your wage to pay my expenses, instead to save money on my expenses. Put yourself at my place.
- (The director laughing). Ok. We will find a solution and we will pay your expenses.


That's really important. When we are young, we have to planify our freedom.

You'll probably be shocked, and I'm unbiased and very fair but in this instance I agree, my employer is very good at being authoritarian and represent the worst in capitalism , I won't deny that, the only thing that keeps me there is they do pay extremely well even for "greedy capitalists" but for that amount they expect results ..... as would I if I ran a business, I wouldn't accept bad results on a too frequent basis, but I wouldn't be an asshole in general.
