Well. According to my quote in Brian's post above. It looks like I was wrong. Yes, the Eagles won. But not after the Patriots came back to take the lead.

Otherwise a great game. Worthwhile taking a day off work for. The most yards of offended gained in any game ever in the NFL. Brady, 500yd passing. 1pt off sb28 for the highest scoring game. When you think of the "aura" Belichick/brady/patriots have. I really respect this win from Philadelphia. I respect what Pedersen has done.

2017 Final Standings
FYI: The games played does not equal the win/loss total, as in the playoffs the games counted as 2 and the SB as 3. Congratulations to our season champion, Brian249x. Thanks to all who participated and we'll probably do it again come September. I expected the Patriots to win, I'm glad my expectations weren't met. It was a good game, some saying the best ever. Fly, Eagles Fly!

Great game. NOT a boring SB. Almost like watching an NBA All-Star game.
Please....stop with the "bullshit call" bullshit. The refs are instructed by the league EVERY YEAR to reign it in a little on the flags. If your team is gonna complain about calls, maybe everybody ought to ask why you needed those calls to go your way in the first place.

I no longer have any idea what a catch is, what the criteria is for a touchdown and pass interference is almost on a par with a pot luck round in a pub quiz. Hopefully during off season those in power will sit down and try and find clearer definitions of these rules. A thoroughly enjoyable footballing feast yesterday and for me the Eagles D made the difference and Philly finally win a Superbowl. |

The best thing about the Eagles was that it was truly a team effort. Quote:
Seriously, hats off and applause to tygrkhat40 for being the scorekeeper and keeping the contest going. May the Hamilton Tiger Cats win the Grey Cup and the Bills bury the Patriots next year. Last edited by Arturo2nd; February 6th, 2018 at 04:27 AM.. Reason: Addition |

As much as idiot Chris Collinsworth was trying to convince me otherwise. Ertz's td was just a regulation td. The other one was a catch, even if the ball wasn't clamped onto the ribcage.
Quote:
Sb38? Antowain Smith failed to make the yardage on a 3rd/short on a crucial drive in the first half where the pats scored a TD. The refs gave them a whole fricken yard to move the chains! C'mon man! Panthers should be 2-0 in SB Quote:
Since then. The games been out in Brady's hands, and they've won with average defences. 600yards of offence, and you still lose? They are just too complacent in AFC East. How unlucky are the 15 Panthers? Up against one of the all time great defensive performances in a SB. Surrounded by Patriots AFC representation. If we played against them. A minimum of 63pts, with Derek Anderson throwing two junktime TDs Last edited by Motorboater; February 6th, 2018 at 07:58 AM.. |

As I've said before about replay, if it's called one way on the field and then the call is reversed because of something that happened that was barely discernable to the naked eye, it shouldn't be overturned.
Brian, you are welcome to visit Buffalo in January. If you're into winter activities, we've got 'em, either in the city or less than an hour's drive away. If you're into indoor activities, we've got those as well. Plus, just over the bridge is the Canadian Ballet. And as amazing as Niagara Falls is in summer, it's incredible in winter. Motorboater, the Panthers are 0-2 in the Super Bowl? Lose two more and we'll talk.

So. Congratulations to the Eagles blah, blah, blah. Best team blah, blah, blah. Everyone happy blah etc.
In truth I'm not to devastated. The last few years have been good. It took a long time for me to get over the Giants losses. A long time. I can praise Nick Foles for an amazing display. I can feel slightly happy for LeGarrette Blount. I love the fact that a former World League QB has become Head Coach of a Super Bowl team. But I'd prefer to talk about the Pats. Tom Brady threw for 505 yards against a top defense. Why the hell is more not being made of that? I watched a lot of commentary on pootube about how the Pats lost the Super Bowl. BTW. Notice how most comments focus on how teams lost the big game rather than the other team won. I heard comments about how Foles shredded the Pats. Well Brady eviscerated the Eagles. I was always in awe of Kurt Warner and the fact that he held the top three highest yards in Super Bowls. In the last two years Brady has ripped that up. He has passed for almost 1,000 yards in two games. So the refs are biased in favour of the Pats? Not as this game goes. Two TDs they could easily have overturned if this was the case. I'm OK with both decisions although by rule the Clement TD should have been overturned. Why did they keep looking at the Ertz TD? Pretty obviously good. If you haven't seen it look out for Chris Hogan getting obliterated on the hail mary play. That really should have been called. It was a bit of a shocker. Malcolm Butler? What the hell. I await the truth but someone who could have become a legend may now become a tragedy. Some guy on one of the sports talk shows, Rob Parker is a prick. Max Kellerman is an even bigger prick. Randy Moss. Hall of Fame. That's right. Brian Urlacher. Hall of Fame. That's right. Brian Dawkins? Wear a suit for god's sake. Till September.

It's a team game. People are now used to seeing big offensive performances on the losing side. Brady throwing 505 yards is no big deal the way that offence is always in his arm. In the context of the way the game was played, 505 is no big deal anyway. Without looking at the stats. If someone said Foles threw 450 yards, I'd take it as fact. These are some of the reasons that statistics isn't made a big deal of.
Nor should that loss hurt. After last year's win. Patties fans should be desensitised from SB winning euphoria. You think there's going to be a more remarkable win than that? Then sb42 loss is embarrassing after winning every freakin game that season. Aside, despite winning every game til then, it was as big an upset as the Pats beating the Rams. Idk how sb46 could hurt, NE were lucky to be in the game after Baltimore flopped like they were Atlanta. On top of that. You've experienced as many SB wins, if not more, than the regular American fans here, most of which are of a mature age. It can't affect guys like vic, yourself and I, like it affects them. |
