2 things

It's sad commentary to acknowledge that as a society it's come to this.. that there's that many people out there just waiting to be offended that it affects what gets published and how.

That may be, but at least in the case with Salinger and Huxley (and others) the book was published "as is" before the outrage began. Thankfully, the original works remain. I can't imagine reading either of those two or, for example, "A Clockwork Orange" or "Fahrenheit 451" after they had gone through a sensitivity whitewashing.

You make it sound like it is something new, this has always been the case it has gone unnoticed and now with the recalibration of the scales it now has been brought to your attention.

I take it you are nou are not a published writer. If they edited the word of God (The Bible) you think they did not edit those works too? Fact is that editing on sensitivity grounds has always been done, it is just that sensitivities do change as do the people and other conditions do.

Default First the libs @ UC Berkley, now the conservatives @ CPAC

Is there anywhere on the ideological spectrum this MILO is welcome?

Over the weekend, CPAC invited Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at this year’s event, happening later this week in Maryland. Of late, Yiannopoulos, a “tech editor” for Breitbart News, has been a regular guest on college campuses and a constant source of irritation to campus liberals. Recently, the University of California–Berkeley greeted his arrival with riots. Despite the fact that Yiannopoulos holds a number of noxious opinions, we have defended his right to air them against those who would shout him down or worse.

Washingtonian reported that even some board members of the American Conservative Union, which hosts CPAC, felt “blindsided” by the announcement. “The ACU board was not consulted on this, nor was there a board vote,” tweeted ACU board member Ned Ryun. Others pointed out that last week Yiannopoulos told Bill Maher, “I don’t know if I’m conservative.”
By Sunday, that was the least of CPAC’s concerns. The Reagan Battalion, a conservative blog, tweeted out a video of Yiannopoulos making anti-Semitic remarks and railing against the “arbitrary and oppressive idea of consent.” First, he claims that when female teachers have sex with their male students, “The boy is the predator in that situation.” He continues:
In the homosexual world particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men the sort of coming of age relationships relationships in which those older men have helped those young boys to discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable — and sort of a rock where they can’t speak to their parents.

Another no-win situation for kids...

This little tidbit comes from Texas:

Mack Beggs, the transgender wrestler from Euless Trinity High School, is halfway home to capturing the Class 6A state girls wrestling championship in the 110-pound weight class. This is amidst the sudden swirling controversy around Beggs, whose gender transition from female to male became a news story after the regional tournament.

At the regional tournament, two wrestlers forfeited rather than grapple with Beggs. One, Coppell’s Madeline Rocha, who had already qualified for state, lost her opening-round match Friday in Cypress.

After losing to Beggs, who has has been on testosterone treatments since October 2015, Mya Engert left the mat in tears and her coach tersely declined an interview request for her wrestler. Many of the coaches have said they’re not upset at Beggs, but just the predicament of their girls having to wrestle against an athlete on testosterone.

Alright.. I'll admit I'm not nearly as progressive as some of you. But-

With all the clamor over transgender bathrooms, why isn't this "male" wrestling against other males? Doesn't this further oppress him? Does "he" use the women's locker room? Why is a teenager on hormones (to begin with) allowed to participate in high school sports at all? Just because he/she/it is transgender, is that a pass for having an unfair advantage?

This LGBTQIABCDEFGHIJ stuff is getting way out of hand.

Now, as word of Beggs’s case has gained increased publicity, experts say the policy’s likely intention — to keep transgender female athletes transitioning from male to female from having a hormonal leg up on competitors — is backfiring.
Call it the law of "unintended consequences".

Apparently he is within the rules.

She is playing by the rules. Now what that says about the Rules I do not know

Giraffe birth live webcam back on after complaints it was sexually explicit

A live video stream of a giraffe waiting to give birth in a zoo has resumed, after it was removed by YouTube following complaints the feed was sexually explicit.

The owner of Animal Adventure Park in New York state says animal rights activists were responsible for reporting the video.

The webcam is now working again, with thousands of people watching April the giraffe as she prepares to give birth.

Apparently YouTube abruptly cut the live stream on Thursday when what the zoo called “animal rights extremists” alleged a violation of its “nudity and sexual content” policy.

Has the Giraffe been asked to comment on the issue? Has she been exploited or is she just an exhibitionist?

Hopefully the more unhinged elements of the left will hold a protest march at the zoo, and outside the Israeli embassy of course, a protest just wouldn't be the same if the Jews are not blamed for this....
