You should write numbers numerically in all of your written communications. Writing "3" takes less time and energy than writing "three." Your reader's brain deconstructs and makes sense of "3" in less time and with less energy than "three."
The exception is when you use "one" as a pronoun. Tommy is the one Al Capone beat up with a baseball bat. My plea to the International Writing Committee (IWC): Please outlaw writing numbers alphabetically, except when one = pronoun. |
