It doesn't matter what the average "American citizen" approves of, it's all about money and power - both of the which the NRA has a fuckin' truckload of.

The NRA are heavily funded by Colt and Smith and Wesson: about 28% of their approximately $400m revenue comes from the arms industry. But of course about 50% of this revenue is from membership fees, so I think you would have to say that it exists because very many American people support it and support what it stands for. I think what it stands for is evil and sick, but my opinion does not matter because I do not live there.

The REAL problem is our tendency in America to want to blame things (guns) rather than people (the shooter). We have a history of this, thanks largely to political correctness and the pussification of America. Prime example: Richard Reid.. the nortorious "shoe bomber". After he was caught, the braintrusts in charge of protecting the country decided everybody needed to take off their shoes before boarding a plane.. rather than look at who was trying to board the plane. Wouldn't do to profile. That might hurt somebody's feelings. More laws are basically pointless as you can't legislate the lawless. Prohibition and the War on Drugs are prime examples. The areas with the toughest gun laws in America have the worst crime (Chicago). 80% of gun violence is perpetrated with an illegally obtained firearm. Even if this sick git couldn't have gotten a gun, he could have used the money to buy enough fertilizer to blow a hole in that school the size of a football field. Then who do we blame? Agriculture?

@Decadence
How many children would have been killed if the crazy killer would have had a knife instead of a gun? Why do we rarely have these disasters in Europe, when we get twice the American population on our continent? That's children who are killed AT school. If schools are not secure, which kind of society does it show? Quote:
That's not that easy to get the informations and to build one. Quote:

This is an issue that will never be decided either way IMO. I own guns but I actually support some laws they want to pass. Especially the 100% background checks covering ALL buyers. |

IMO the NRA over reacts but I think I know why. I think the NRA is afraid to give in on any gun legislation because once they are reasonable how can they not be so when more such legislation comes up? Again just my thoughts, but???? |

Actually a number of US companies are going to distance to the NRA after Parkland. After Online petitions of the social media:
- First National Bank of Omaha - Hertz - Enterprize Holings (Alamo and National) - Symantec Corp. - MethLife Inc. - Chubb Ltd. were going on Distance to the NRA. Just a small/little plant, but it seems now that is moving something in the US. Keep it up !! The NRA CEO Wayne La Pierre said on contrary: "the socialists and the US-Media misusing the tragedy. They would mislead and cover up failures of the schools, the families and the FBI. The idea of some of our opponents, that armed security makes us less secure is completely ridiculous", he says. Everyone could easily decide himself, what's here ridiculous !
