In summary - why should I stick with Windows 8.1 instead of migrating to 10?

I'm afraid a 670 post topic is a bit out of my reading range at the moment!!

with my limited understanding 10 is aimed at people who don't know where the corner shop is, need help getting there, don't know what they want or went for when they get there and want someone to keep a record of their visit, what they looked at, what they bought, what they had forced on them that they didn't want or need and who they might have told about it afterwards.

Angry I just need to vent!

Good day gents.

Just had to purchase a new laptop for the ol' lady as she's heading back to school to finish her business degree. It's a fantastic, fast, little core i7 Toshiba. That's the good. The bad......Windows fucking 10. A pox on on the houses of Bill Gates, Satya Nadella, and John W. Thompson! That shit is without a doubt the most UNuser friendly, convoluted OS since BASIC on a TRS-80 ffs. I find every aspect of it to be a pain in the ass, and when you dig in, and see that the drives are running on the NTFS, it makes one wonder why they didn't just upgrade, and enhance my beloved XP. WTF!?! Simple navigation is a thing of the past with that shit, and I despise it! Touch screen? Touch this, and give me back my START button, and My Computer!

Rick

I am well and I am very touched by your post.

When this horror happened, I was in Cannes for a family reason.

I follow closely the news of the investigation on the telly.

Again, thank you and thank you to all the persons who joined you by clicking on the thanks button.

I am old enough to know about the events of what we, in France, call the
events of Algeria. Perhaps it is coming back.

In another thread I told of my preoccupation about terrorism and security.

The events prove me right and, believe me, I regret it.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but why don't you take the machine back and find a good used machine on your local Craigslist? Don't know where you are but there are probably quite a few good machines there that will be less expensive and will have Win 7 or 8 on them.

I would say buy a copy of W-7 pro, uninstall W-10, install W-7 and Bob's your uncle!

Default I don't think Mr. Myerson was an English major in college........

OK, just two paragraphs from The Windows Experience Blog as authored by Microsoft's Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group, Terry Myerson:

Quote:
November 12, 2015 6:00 am by Terry Myerson
First Major Update for Windows 10 Available Today

Today, we reach our next milestone as the first major update to Windows 10 is now available* for PCs and tablets. With this update, there are improvements in all aspects of the platform and experience, including thousands of partners updating their device drivers and applications for great Windows 10 compatibility. Windows 10 also starts rolling out to Xbox One today and select mobile phones soon.

But most importantly, with this free update we have reached the point in the platform’s maturity where we can confidently recommend Windows 10 deployment to whole organizations.
OK, "....we can confidently recommend Windows 10 deployment to whole organizations." Now they are confident? Obviously while they were forcing Windows 10 down the throats of the general public, they were NOT confident?

Wow. Thanks for caring!

Hummmm. Windows users as guinea pigs!

You can read the rest of this tripe if you care too: http://blogs.windows.com/windowsexpe...ailable-today/
