Most of the files that I am/were downloading are from free users without enabling this "traffic share"-thing. I am a free-user myself and do just have a free (unpaid) user-account for numerous years now.

This makes it even more worrysome

Checking the settings of my free user-account again, I can confirm that I haven´t enabled "Traffic-Share". I also know that some files from other users do also not have this option enabled.

The fact that I can now download at high speeds from these accounts and from my own as well (even in non-logged-in mode) can only mean that this has nothing to do with the a.m. "Traffic-Share" option.

it definitely has nothing to do with traffic share. If someone has traffic share enabled the downloader doesn't get the waiting time countdown. I've still been getting that but i've also just got 900mb in under four minutes from someone i know has a pay back account. Something tells me there will be a lot of moving over to (c)rapidgator by pissed off filefactory uploaders.

My previous post was in reference to this. I.e. yes the information is directly from Filefactory.

This is a thing premium members can turn on (and off) to speed up downloads.

It's not available to non-premium accounts.

It seems strange that FF have decided to change their business model to allow non premium members speedier downloads.

Perhaps they have just adapted to some of their main competitors (MediaFire, 1Fichier, Zippyshare...)

Yes, after a long time of 250kbps (which isn't bad in itself), I just dl'ed from FF at a steady 7-8mbps!
You still have to wait between dl's though, but it's nice.

It's time to get all those films I have bookmarked to dl at FF

Uploads seem to perform at earlier usual speeds, which is ~1,5 - 2 MB/s (on my end).
