Sherlock Holmes series (14 films)

How I missed this glorious series all these years simply baffles me. On a suggestion from the IMDB classic film forum I watched The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939) for the first time a few weeks ago, and I was hooked. Apart from the two unforgettable characters embodied by Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, all these movies have that irresistible spooky murder mystery quality. Whether it's dark creepy mansions, foggy London back alleys, seductive femmes fatales or evil plotting Nazis, these two fine fellows will figure things out and bring the culprits to justice.

The entire series is on Youtube and most run about 60-80 mins, so on any given night when you hear thunder approaching in the distance, grab a bowl of popcorn, turn off the lights, and enjoy.

Nearly finished watching ,

This.

It`s a pretty middling kind of film. Decent enough for it`s era.
Had never seen it before but glad I finally decided to.
True it`s not remotely scary ,but has it`s creepy moments.
Worth watching for the impressive vast nowadays well known cast alone.
Although even if the cast was merely a single actor. Burgess Meredith is always value for viewing money I reckon

While,

This
.

Isn't in any way the typical film I`d usually be watching. I`m currently trying to look at anything else rather than (Free streaming) the second part fourth season of the Walking Dead. Least until it`s finally over. After which time I`ll see them all one after another.

But I digress

Am three quarters of the way through Philomena.
Most of which I've listened to rather than actually looked at.
That said it`s a pleasant enough pass timer , considering the true story troubling subject .

Don`t quote me on that though

Coma (1978)

On my steady re-watch list. Easily seen it dozens of times and Genevieve Bujold never fails to absorb me into her one-woman crusade.

Watching this right now,I was a little doubtful when I heard it was being made but so far so good. The style is very different from the original,A little less stylized,A good deal grubbier and a deal less humourous. There's a tad more gore and alot more facial hair too.

Jean Reno is always worth watching, even when he is in a bad movie - and this movie is very good, especially if you compare it to other 'revenge' movies. The movie is in French, with English subtitles, but that didn't bother me at all. This is far superior to those other movies - I'd compare it in some ways to the Michael Caine version of Get Carter, as far as grittiness is concerned. This one, though, is even more about family and loyalty - and the entire cast sells that. Top notch entertainment! I've already posted a version of the trailer in the Memorable Whackings thread...

The Thomas Crown Affair - 1960's -- Steve McQueen

To my knowledge, this movie was the first to let "the bad guy" get away. Prior movies had to show the criminal getting caught or punished. McQueen escapes to Switzerland in the final scene.
