Dozens of CC loops in English on VHS
I had dozens of CC loops in English on VHS in 30 minute & 1 Hour formats. Most got damaged by water when we had a flood. I also saw some on loops, regular and Super 8 tapes, maybe some in sound - not sure now. These were all viewed and purchased in NY and I'm sure they could also be found on the West Coast and certain other parts of the US. All are in the usual compilations on TS, BestSellers etc.
I would guess these were from versions sold in the UK but because of the different VHS systems, they would have to be transferred. Some were poorly packaged and at times looked like bootlegs but the quality of the tapes was usually good. There was also loads of Wara comps which were appallingly dubbed and very expensive]. As I reflect on that I realize that all of the CC US VHS versions have British accents so I'd guess they were first available in the UK but harder to find and now rarer. These must have been dubbed by CC because the Soho merchants wouldn't have bothered to go to the trouble. But the legality of the US ones is suspect. The question is whether CC ever actually did manufacture legitimate versions for the US system. A few very popular ones were released in superb quality on other labels. These included 'Black Hammer' and the others by that lucky guy as well as those by the over-rated John Holmes. Sorry if this has been covered previously, otherwise I'd be interested to know if any other new light can be shed. A while back somebody said they were in a posh English accent but all that I remember were far more towards cockney and, to me, most come across as pretty daft. Personally I seldom bothered to listen to them in sound because I found it irritating. It's a real shame that none of the classics [as far as I know] were ever done in real sound. Nevertheless, they're still the best for my tastes. On another subject I do remember just a handful of full length one hour stories but as has been said, they didn't last for long. |

This lowered the on set costs and made the recording easier, director could instruct and there weren't any need for silence on the set. It also required less staff in action. Shipped to germany for sound-production. I've never seen any loops with english sound, I would love if just one surfaced Jolly

Hi Jolly - you wrote:
"I've never seen any loops with English sound, I would love if just one surfaced" I don't think you are missing much but I understand how you feel about it. Of all those available on the web it could be that there are some in English. I haven't checked. Again I haven't checked recently and can't remember for sure but I think all those VHS compilations were from loops already published. [One can sometimes find slight editing variations between some of the loops and the VHS and even between the various VHS issues]. So if they were all produced for loops that would also explain the lack of sound because the sale of loops with sound was minimal. As I said, there were a couple of I hour stories before the idea was abandoned but I'm pretty sure the one I had was also dubbed [in German]. Earlier in this thread it was said that the decision was made that they were considered too expensive to produce. The question I have is whether there were any new 'shorts' produced on the VHS sets that hadn't been on loops. I think not but I'm sure the answer is within this fine forum and I ask those that do all this hard work to excuse my poor memory. |

Is it worth joining C_C web site
Far more frustrating to me than the language is that it is obvious that the originally finished films were heavily edited to fit the time constraints. When VHS came in, I always wondered why CC didn't release basically full length versions.
One can tell that we see only short excerpts of all the action that took place. Surely they hadn't thrown out all the original film that early? Probably couldn't be bothered. I know that a good number of unissued pictures from stories appeared in later magazines or at the web site. Talking of the web site, is it worth signing up there? As far as pics go I get the impression that much of it is of the later material. Is there much or anything in the way of complete stories from the first 15 years? I heard that little has been added for a while but did they remove content after posting and later repost? By that I mean rotate the posts monthly so that it appears there is something 'new'? Some pay sites do that. Finally, at risk of upsetting the experts who have done all the tremendous work [my apologies in advance], is there a listing here of the content and numbers used, in particular for pictures. I guess I'm also asking if it's worth joining for a month or two. For me, if it's just material from the late 80s and the 90s it's not worth it. And, yes, I know they can't be published. Just for the entertainment of an aging long-term fan. Thanks. |

A list of all 'Classic' photo sets released on the website can be found here (up to and including cc152k). cc500 and higher are related to magazines using CC genuine titles but were published by Silwa/ZBF in 2002 and later.

I saw God knows how many of those VHS tapes back in th 80s, but never came across one with English sound - or genuine sound for that matter. All dubbed. Be nice to come across one with the original sound, but from what I read here, they don't exist. Shame - the voices of those celebrated CC stars (faces and errrr...other parts still etched into my brain) will remain a mystery! Half back on exchange from the Soho 'shops' - remember that? |

CC loop in French
Here is a "proof" of a loop with French sound (the only one I have):
I have also some with German sound, but none with English sound.
