70s/80s
You will remember Benny Hill if you were born in the 70's like me!!!
This guy was one of the main reasons why I grew up expecting women to dress in sexy underwear and tease He gave me hours of fun but I think did damage to my beliefs... God bless him |

Benny Hill, giving us all years of laughter, and me a fetish for speeded-up sex...

With the analogue signal being gradually switched off region by region, the only way that some will be able to access TV signals is via a FreeSat dish and decoder. Therefore, if you do not have this equipment installed you can rightly tell the TV Licensing Authority to bog off. Re: Benny Hill. The late Bob Monkhouse, who knew Benny very well, tells the story that Benny had no appreciation or understanding about money and would often shove his pay cheques from Thames TV behind a tea caddy on the mantelpiece and leave them there for months. Apparently some of these cheques would be for £100,000. |

Me being a fan of women in stockings and suspenders was the only reason I watched Benny Hill's shows. I really got off to the sketches that featured women losing their skirts and chasing Benny in their underwear, stockings and suspenders. Also the dance routines were sexy too.

I remember watching benny hill on a wednesday night I think it was, my dad used to look forward to watching it mainly because of the girls. When you look back, he got away with quite a lot and I'm not sure if it would be tolerated these days. I used to love the chases at the end, and the adverts he used to do. Nothing it seemed, was safe from him then.
As for kenny everett, I first heard him on pirate radio, and when he moved onto tv, his creations and wackiness was more appreciated. Again like benny, some things were never safe. The afore mentioned cupid stunt, stormin' norman and his tank, marcel wave, and perhaps his most famous or well known, his do it yourself bee gees kit. Absolutely superb!

Kenny Everett video's/DVDs.
I don't suppose anyone knows of a website that stocks the completeworks of Kenny, because I've tried, lord knows I've tried to track down his 'canon' of works from the eighties and it seems that you can only get a compilation on one DVD. Pah! I want the lot, I wonder if there's a site, can you help?

Well I enjoyed Kenny Everett, I thought it was 'clever' humour but (this will not be popular with my fellow Brits) I thought Benny Hill comedy was rather peurile.

I enjoyed both Benny and Kenny but at the time Kenny Everett seemed "new wave"...riding in on the current punk trend that was the new dawn. Come the 80's and I honestly felt embarrassed for Benny Hill as his humour became unfunny. He had those French clown inspired sketches and from memory didn't he introduced a kids version of Hills Angels? This in my opinion was bottom of the barrel stuff. I believe at around this time or slightly earlier he was trying to break into the American market.
Benny Hill was a fantastic actor/artiste and I loved his shows up until the late 70's, but unfortunately after 20 odd years he quite simply ran out of ideas and times were changing in a world that could no longer afford to carry him any more.
