I don't think it's true. As we've seen with things like Hurricane Katrina and 9/11, sometimes we're in dire need of leaders. What we need is leaders who actually lead.

I think Warren Buffett would be a good choice. He has no need to steal our money. He gives away more money to charity every year than we'll ever earn. He does what he says he's going to do. He's trusted by the right and left. He understands economies and no one could afford to buy him off.

Indeed it was a great time. If it hadnt been for the Iron Lady we would all be stuck in factories like the germans manufacturing things, and look what problems thats caused them and their economy ( BMW/Mercedes/Porsche/VW/Audi etc).

No, we brits can be proud that Thatcher oversaw the deregulation of financial services, and thanks to her the sector has went from strength to strength, and the nations fortunes improved with it ( Royal Bank of Scotland/LLoyds/Barclays).
