That's a pretty funny story with your friend ringing up lol
I was born in 81. But I can imagine all factors involved, Agnetha would've been one of the most lusted after women in the 70s. SOS and Knowing me, Knowing you would be the songs I like the most from them. |

Dunno how I got lost in this topic... anyway.
ABBA: great poppy pop songs by Andersson & Ulvaeus, with a smile and a tear. And those two ladies: to me, with their appearance, they represented two feminine antipodes, and the two of them together proved to be the perfect mix. Musically, I always thought that Anni-Frid had a really beautiful mezzo voice, and was the better singer of the two. But Agnetha had the emotional touch... SOS, w-o-w. My heart still breaks when I hear her sing "I tried to reach for you, but you have closed your mind. Whatever happened to our love? I wish I understood..." And, of course, because she looked the way she looked , I still want to jump on the plane to Stockholm and rescue her. Anni-Frid was of a different kind. She looked like she could perfectly take care of herself. No man would ever break her heart. Hell, no! Before he could even think about it, she was already gone. Frida was beautiful, hot and cool. And more fun. |

Its kind of all gone now... history ...
but for young performers getting together to form an Abba tribute band.... there must still be a market for live theatre and stadium performances .... and got to be fun up there singing the Abba songs every night..... and travelling the country and maybe all of Europe. |

Growing up in Italy, first time I saw Agnetha was in the early part of that decade in 1974, saw her on RAI TV at one of Abba's tour of Europe appearances singing Waterloo, after they won the Eurovision contest.
That was the first time in my life and I was 9 years old, that I saw girls as more than just for pulling their hairs and pushing them down at the playground. Ever since then I was always attracted to tall long legged blondes. |

I admit I have always loved ABBA. Their albums and CDs proudly stand in my collection next to Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx and all the others. Even Bucks Fizz.

SOS
Where are those happy days, they seem so hard to find I tried to reach for you, but you have closed your mind Whatever happened to our love? I wish I understood It used to be so nice, it used to be so good So when you’re near me darling, can’t you hear me - S.O.S. The love you gave me, nothing else can save me - S.O.S. When you’re gone, how can I even try to go on? When you’re gone, though I try how can I carry on? You seem so far away though you are standing near You made me feel alive, but something died I fear I really tried to make it out, I wish I understood What happened to our love, it used to be so good So when you’re near me darling, can’t you hear me - S.O.S. The love you gave me, nothing else can save me - S.O.S. When you’re gone, how can I even try to go on? When you’re gone, though I try how can I carry on? YES a little surprising and sad..... and very early on in their career... way before they hit it big in the UK ..... but there are so many other songs full of spirit optomism and energy ..... Mama Mia for eg... the song that probably did more for their breakthrough in UK and Ozzie ... novelty songs when I kissed the teacher when you play your violin Nina ballerina But by the time of the visitors album ... gloom had taken over .... bit like the beatles after 10 years of fame too the novelty of fame and money had worn off but a brilliant album nevertheless... perhaps their best ? wot a way to sign out ! |
