That's the price of an indifferent, or should I say over-rated and over-hyped PL? I get the impression that while domestic success looked likely, the temptation to hang on to the last vestiges of 'his' team and not risk too much in the transfer market was too persuasive.

In the meantime, how many successes have English clubs had in Europe..? One forgettable Chelski/MU final and Arsenal self-combusting in their sole appearance. The PL isn't the top quality we're being led to believe.

Like him or loathe him, only Jose looks likely to trouble the trophy scorers for a year or two - and even he's gone back to a 36 year old Drogba for back up and employing a 5 years past-his-best Terry, whilst cruising along along at the top of the domestic league.

No wonder idiots like Cellino amongst many others reckon English football is the best sideshow for their antics. Bah!
Not too much wrong with the 2009 Squad, apart from maybe Anderson and O'Shea. 2011 final and Gigg's looked like a pensioner, totally ineffective.

I like Jose, i think we would be in a healthier state had he been offered the job instead of Moyes.

Default QPR ?

Watched the QPR v Villa last night.
Villa played well for the early 10-15 minutes, with QPR running scared.
Then it reversed, Austin proved his doubters wrong and Vlarr proved his club's £12 million valuation on him as a joke. {He can leave for nothing in May}

After 4 matches and scoring 4 goals, Villa were 2nd in the Prem...

AND... the abandoned "Contract Talks" with villa manger Lambert ~ in Febraury, were quickly resumed and he was given a new contract till 2018.

After that ~

Since Aston Villa last scored a goal – Leeds United and Watford have been through five managers

Aston Villa’s barren run without a goal continued in the 2-0 defeat to QPR last night, making it now 486 minutes of action since they last found the net.
What a Brilliant Owner

I noticed that everytime they showed the benches
Keane was eating/drinking..sometimes Lambert was scribbling...but neither was ever shown speaking to each other...discussing or even looking at each other.

WEIRD !

What a Brilliant Owner

Yes...

Birmingham City Nil - 0
Bournemouth - 8

Meini. As a longstanding Villan, let me say I agree with everything you said. Paul Lambert was the popular choice for manager, amongst the supporters. He did pretty well during his spell with Norwich and I for one, was looking forward to seeing what he would do at VP.
I really can't understand what happened since then. Did we get some kind of secret doppelganger?
He only seems to have one style of football now and that is counterattacking. If the opposition stifle them, he appears incapable of coming up with any other type of play. I genuinely feel that he is tactically inept.
Some of his purchases have left a little, sorry, a lot to be desired.
Five defeats in a row, with no goals scored, I genuinely fear for our survival. Spurs at home next, most likely six losses on the trot.
BTW, I didn't mention Bournemouth, as contrary to most views amongst Villa supporters, I don't like to see Midlands clubs crash and burn. I'd love to have your lot back in the PL, along with us and the Olbiyun.

Paul Lambert always seems as if he's about to cry. I feel dreadful sorry for the wee fat man.

Maybe because Roy will give him a super flying wedgie every time Villa lose ?

Smeggin' hell. Liverpool were close to going into extra time with Swansea again but thanks to Mario and Dejan we're through to the next round. I am not sure I could have stood another penalty shoot out.

The pundits two favourite tools to bash Rogers, actually rescue Liverpool.

One thing I don't understand is that Ballobonkers has to play on his own up front ~ sometimes running channels to take his markers away ~ yet Borini/Lambert never play that one-up-front-and-isolated, role?

Ballobonkers for his 15 minute cameo had Borini alongside him ~ scored!

I hope Brendan made the connection

I feared he'd take villa 'out-of-sight' when he signed.
The stodginess of McLeish being swept away by the sometimes cavalier approach that Norwich had.

I thought he was a good signing as well. I just can't figure what happened.
I mean, his "bomb squad" of high earners that he refused to play, but paid to sit in the reserves....all get called back this season and Hutton actually increases his transfer value.
Crazy U-turns and I also think Benteke (brilliant player) should regain fitness in the Development squad, not the 1st team. An accident waiting to happen imo.

Indonesian clubs PSS Sleman and PSIS Semarang have been disqualified from the country's first division play-offs for scoring five own goals.

Sleman won the game 3-2, but a committee decided both sides attempted to lose in order to avoid a semi-final match with Borneo FC - a club rumoured to be backed by a local mafia.

The game was scoreless until the 86th minute before Sleman scored two own goals in quick succession, Semarang then scored three own goals and lose the tie.
