Anyone else remember this match?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHazMyKZmRs It was 1977 and Spurs were in the 2nd Division. The previous week we had lost 4-1 at Charlton Athletic and our list of injured players was so long that we had to sign a completely unknown forward as an emergency from lowly Torquay United just to make up a starting XI. He arrived at White Hart Lane on the Thursday and was on the team-sheet for the match on Saturday. His name was Colin Lee. - details and a longer video @ http://www.ohwhenthespurs.co.uk/#/1977-b-rvs/4549493881

I remember Colin Lee, did not realise the humbling of Rovers was his first game. I am sure at some point he actually manged Torquay.
We did something similar, but the other way around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzFXW20yp-A Signed Paul Hilton the bury centre half not long afterwards. |

Rafael Benitez: Chelsea interim manager angrily confirms exit Rafael Benitez has said he will leave Chelsea in May and described the decision to give him the title "interim manager" as a "massive mistake". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21611064 Where do Chelsea go from here? Pep is spoken for. Mourinho come home? Roberto gets another chance? I dunno. If I was 'The Special One' would I really want to go back to work for Roman the Replacer? What a mess... |

This is the way I see things managerial:
Man U - SAF will probably stay in position for 2 more seasons, finally retiring at the end of 2014-15. He'll probably be given a board position, and the risk will be that whoever takes over as manager will have a massive presence watching over everything he does. It's not a managerial role to be envied. Real Madrid - Mourinho will undoubtedly get the sack in the summer. Michael Laudrup is the fans favourite to take over there. Swansea - Roberto di Matteo to take over Laudrup's old job. Man C - Mancini will be out soon. The money the club has is perfect for Mourinho to spend, and the timing could be very opportune for both parties. Arsenal - Wenger has to go sometime soon. I can't think who would be a best fit to take over. Spurs - We've sort of got to give AVB one more season after this. I still don't think he's a particularly good manager, but results count and we seem set for the CL place that we covet. Chelsea - Which drongo would be so utterly stupid to take on the poisoned chalice???? On the player front, I reckon that Gareth Bale going to Real Madrid in the summer would be a good bet. Rooney going to PSG is quite probable as well.

Not much to disagree with there although for Swansea I believe you can add Di Canio & Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the list of candidates, should Laudrup head to Madrid and no doubt the "Special One" will be off to where the money is.
For Arsenal, replacing Wenger is probably the problem, Dein needs to be brought back to make it work. AS far as Di Canio for WHU, the fans would love it to be him, but if Sam goes it will be someone with a proven track record and more boredom, rather than some young whipper snapper with a footballing pedigree. On the player front money will talk. How much will Levi want to let Bale go, if at all. Tottenham will also need a goalscorer or two. I can see Rooney heading across the channell to PSG or even further and is it possible CR7 could return to OT, especially if Utd progress in the CL. City could have a major re shuffle this summer with as many going out as coming in, if its Mourinho in charge, could we see John Terry in a different shade of blue? my one thought on mourinho is if he even remotely wants the man utd job then he must realise that he can't go elsewhere in the premier league before. Certainly not to man city. As you say he will go where the money is and for all we, united, spend we can't match city or chelsea. if he thinks either of those are willing to buy the likes of messi for him, he'll go. I doubt he will get ronaldo to go to city or chelsea though. I'd be tempted for a moyes to arsenal if i had to put money on anyone though i think he is another and quite serious contender for the united job which is probably two years away. However just to throw this scenario out there. Let's say united do the treble again this season, does ferguson think i'll stick it out for another champions league or two knowing he's taken us past liverpool's league title haul or does he go out at the top?
