Traditional Striptease

I was thinking of posting that clip but it illustrates the fact that she like all Burlesque dancers/performers etc doesn't go all the way-(but as a pornstar she does alot more than what she does in that performance) i.e. shows her nipples and gets her 'knickers' off. As said many times that is the traditional striptease. I wonder if this thread should now include Burlesque seeing as so many clips are posted-the strip might be traditional, the music, in some cases traditional-ish, but the 'end result' can't be classed as traditional. See you all in 2011.

I think there's something terrific about a good striptease, but it doesn't have to be so totally traditional and Burlesque-like. There's a category I like which is hard to label. It has to be done on a stage, otherwise it's just another video of someone taking their clothes off. It has to start with the woman wearing a dress, or other elegant clothing, and lingerie. And it has to be done fairly slowly and tantalisingly. And it should go all the way. This isn't necessarily Burlesque, but it's definitely not the crude gyrations of a pneumatic bikini clad pole dancer. Don't understand why there's so little of the right stuff, but then when you look at so much of what passes for erotica these days, you have to despair.

Here's a reminder of the lure of the Soho striptease show in the black and white era. Do they come more traditional than that?

Burlesque as used now seems to cover - should that be uncover - big show production values, plenty of tease but not the nudity. Here's a clip of Michelle L'amour. This involves a bit of almost everything, except total nudity. More than seven minutes long, it reminds me of a seventies club act - there's time for lots of clothes to come off. She peels her stockings, has tiny pasties, and watching those knickers come off is a treat, for me at least!

The reason I like the way her knickers come off is there's a g-string underneath, a classic striptease move, you think you're going to see something and then, oh! you don't. Agony!

Helping hands have been around a long time - I remember a club act with a lady who had two sets of hands helping her slip off her bra and knickers as she sat demurely on a chair in front of a black screen. The way she writhed as they peeled her was uplifting!

At the start she wore a lovely long wine coloured dress with puffy sleeves and bare shoulders and displayed a very deep cleavage. Then, tasty in her delicious underwear, her stockings and suspender belt came off before the hands emerged behind the chair to help her slip out of bra and tie-sided knickers. She still had a good three minutes to show herself off totally naked, dancing round the stage. Utterly thrilling, she was electrifying!

Yep, stage, curtains, brassy music, great costume, full set of underwear, stockings - seamed please - and long gloves (all preferably black). Get 'em off, get 'em all off. A striptease should have a happy nude ending!

Well ecdysiastic, I have to agree with your observations, and to further prove your point, we can turn to Miss L'amour yet again, as she gives us a performance that takes a G-rated character motiff, and turns her into a Near X Rated dance perfomance that makes you wish.. She had gotten rid of the G-string and pasties!

Now in this 4 minute clip, Michelle give us a taste of something so sweet and so innocent, that it could fool you. I mean the style starts off as something that Walt Disney would love.. sweet, innocent, and demure Snow White.

And it's not until Michelle takes a bite out of the (poisoned) apple, that things look all G-rated.. like you were watching that Disney classic live on stage..

But the moment she takes a bite? Things really change.. and goes from G-Rated, to X in a matter of 4 minutes, as she peels out of the clothes, that Snow White may have been a Disney Princess at one time, but if Walt had seen this act today? His Cryogenically frozen head (if it does exist) would have either melted or exploded as Michell gives the audience one heck of a show.

And it's Ironic that I mention this.. But it's this very innocent act that actually propelled Miss L'Amour into the spotlight when she pulled the same exact routine in 2006 on "America's Got Talent" in front of a live audience, and shocked the heck out of the judges, of which the 2 male judges allowed her to move on to the next round of competition, whereas the female judge thought Michelle was a cheap 2000's stripper act.

(To the female judge on that series who thought that Michelle was a cheap stripper?, I hate to say this lady, Michelle isn't a cheap stripper, and that you're probably was anti-burlesque. Because Michelle is classy, if she can make one of Walt Disney's most 'Bland' princesses, become the sultry vixen that other later Disney princesses became, Then she made burlesque worth it's weight in gold).

In closing, you do have to remember this.. The art of striptease is all about the tease, and nothing about the total nudity. As the famous Gypsy Rose Lee once said, If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing slowly... very slowly.

But with Michelle? Even a four minute strip show of Show White shows that Gypsy was only partially right.. Because If a thing is worth doing, It's worth doing with either innocent demure, class, a gimmick, or all three blended into a show that will leave men wanting more.

But in the end, striptease is the art where the only thing that is left is very little to the imagination, other than a G-string and a couple of pasties.

Even Walt Disney would have approved. (After all most of Walt's 'Nine Old Men' were artists who studied the nude form, and probably visited burlesque theaters back in the day.)

I think that about sums it up about striptease, L'amour style

Got a few things to put in this thread. First up is a great strip from The Lawbreakers, a film made in 1959. Whilst the girl only gets down to some elaborate pasties it's a sexy performance and pretty revealing for a mainstream film from that era.

Also I managed to get a copy of the documentary mentioned in the thread that was on Sky Arts just before christmas. Whilst called a history of striptease it was basically 2 narrators talking over excerpts from several striptease routines from girls working in Soho at the time (1976).

I've been through the film and assembled what there is of each routine into their own videos, as they're far better watched that way. I'll probably up the whole film too as I'm sure some of you will want it, but these videos probably account for a decent % of the run time.

Also, to contribute to the recent debate, have to say I'm not a great fan of modern Burlesque stuff. It's not so much that there's rarely any actual nudity, but what I enjoy about stuff like the below is the slightly seedy atmosphere. With modern Burlesque there's too much emphasis on it being classy & artistic. Have no problems with that, just it's not really why I'm interested in women taking their clothes off

Hmm I still don't think what Michelle L'Amour can be called striptease in the sense that if you look at what she is wearing and you know the sort of things she does, she is not going to reveal anything at all-to be honest she is too small to actually reveal anything of interest-a bit bigger and it might have held a bit more interest. She is a good dancer, mover etc I can't deny that but as I have stated many times this is not traditional striptease and I can also state that Walt Disney would have not have approved at all-he once went to a screening of a cartoon and the artists showed a short of Mickey and Minnie having sex-he got up, smiled and promptly sacked them! He was also a women hater, anti-semetist and a sneak for the FBI, so Uncle Walt wasn't a nice person at all.

I've only been able to download this one and I must say that this was weird! almost a bestiality thing but of course it wasn't a real 'fox'-however the music was virtually non-existent and completely unstrip-like but the 'girl' had too much makeup on to my mind and although clever manipulation of the animal it wouldn't be allowed today. Also this reminded me of a quick clip that found its way onto Have I Got News for You, a news quiz on BBC2 here-when Stephen Fry was a guest and ex spy David Shayler was in Paris-at one point they lost his picture and then suddenly on screen was topless woman rubbing her breast with a fox fur(this has since been changed to naked tennis on Youtube)
