Born again, and now hate XXX
Who are some classic porn personalities who turned their back on their porn past after finding god? I can think of some modern ones, but I'm totally blanking on who the vintage names are.

Harry Reems became much more into the church once into his 40s, but I don't believe he ever slagged his porn years. So he doesn't count.
Oh right, Linda Lovelace. Duh. Also, Vanity and Bettie Page, although they only did softcore. I'd be open to some softcore sex names as well if anyone knows some. This is for an article I'm writing, by the way. Thanks for your help. |

Sharon Mitchell:
http://cinemademerde.com/Naked_Fame.shtml (Halfway down the above page.) Also: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0593722/ - and so on. She was very slender and almost flat-chested; and was in scores of flicks in the 80s. She went down the usual "drug corridor", excess, etc. She then left the biz, got a dodgy medical qualification, and now "treats" girls who have parachuted out of porn. She is always interviewed in documentaries about porn - the harm it does to people, etc. Her VEF thread is here: http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t11...-mitchell.html She was a superb model. |

In my opinion, Sharon Mitchell doesn't even come close to being appropriate for this thread. A) She's not a bible-thumper and B) She's not anti-porn.
I think you have mistaken her practical and occasionally sombre tone about some of the negative elements of the health and safety side of the industry. Like classic porn actor, director and historian, Bill Margold, she has a LOT of love for the medium, it's history and the close friends she has within it, but that doesn't mean she's going to ignore the realities that she and others have lived through. On a slightly separate train of thought, I will say this: Without exception, every instance I can find of an ex porn performer doing the blame-game with hardcore while thumping their bible has had either a really tough childhood filled with sexual abuse (usually in a devout religious home that they rebelled against) and/or were "forced" into porn (due to drug addiction or harsh economic reasons) and were just waving around in the dark. Not at all conducive to a good experience working in the industry, and comes as no surprise to me at all that they would feel victimized. But being a drug addict with a childhood of sexual abuse, and then deciding that porn is to blame is the equivalent of rubbing yourself with dogshit because you're wracked with self-hatred and don't think you deserve any better. And then what? You get your act together later and claim the rest of us shouldn't be able to own dogs because of what happened to you? Sure, dog crap is gross, but every responsible mature dog owner knows that dealing with excrement is a big part of owning one. If you slathered yourself in crap, then you need to take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming the damn dog. Last edited by Bougieman; October 3rd, 2012 at 08:47 AM.. |
