Bloody hell! I really feel for the people who are trying ride out that hurricane Harvey including my mum's cousin who is in Austin, Texas after she told us they had had blistering heat last month and now torrential rain and very strong winds. A metre of rain expected which according to one weather person is equivalent to the total amount of rainfall experienced in Manchester in a year!

I went through hurricane Alicia in Houston in 1983. The eye went right over us.
105 mph winds, some roofs torn off, flooding etc.

In my apartment complex some small brick walls in the parking lot blew over and damaged cars. Power was out for 3 days so we and neighbors barbecued the meat from our freezers and partied. the theme was "Get blown away."

That was not too bad and actually some fun; but a more powerful hurricane would have caused extreme damage and probably killed some people.

My thoughts and prayers are with the folks in harm's way.

I don't actually think smart is in his dictionary

Nothing personal but I wish the bastard would just hurry up and die so we can see what inbred retarded attic dwelling throwback North Kimrea has in reserve as its next wannabe demi-God.

I don't remember the yanks (or anyone else) wanting to put sanctions on France when they did their nuclear tests in the pacific somewhere.

I don't remember anyone sanctioning India or Pakinstan when it turned out they have nulcear weapons.

I don't remember anyone sanctioning (or wanting to sanction) any country other than North Korea when those countries did military exercises/tests.

I'm not saying kim is anything other than a tyrant, but I find the hypocrisy of so many countires a bit distasteful.

The stated difference is that those countries you name are (notionally) democracies. NK is anything but and a proven danger.

Mouais... mouais... mouais. We can't trust NK, but can we trust our Presidents?

I do remember a German TV report (ARD or ZDF) about Mururoa nuclear tests.
After several years, they sent there a team (that no French TV channels would have done) and made a very interesting enquiry.

The number of thyroidal cancer exploded there, the local population ate fishes and shells that were contaminated !
It was absolutely disguting. President Jacques Chirac was in that case totally disgraceful.
All the countries that have the nuclear power are not serious and trustable enough to manage such a huge and terrible weapon.

I read a book written by Stéphane Hessel who contributed to write the Human Rights Declarations, that all the humans beeings have to insist on our government to disarm the nuclear arsenal.
According to some scientists, the risk to disappear because of a nuclear war is surely higher than to disappear because the global warming or other dangers.

I personnaly do not trust any President getting the possibility to push on the Red button.
And all this hypocrisis must be stopped. Why some countries get the nuclear bombs and do not let other countries to have it? That would be more honest to give the right to every countries or no countries!

Why some countries have the veto power in UNO and not the others?

Are USA, France, GB, Russia and China administrations (and citizens) better than the rest of the world?

The Venezuelan Government is arming the 20% of the population that supports it.

From what I understand, the newly armed people will probably sell the weapons to buy food.

Going to be a lot of blood spilt there.

Forgot to mention that the government there ended legal private gun ownership in 2012. http://www.businessinsider.com/r-ven...bullets-2016-8 Unfortunately or fortunately depending on who you support, the public has mainly disregarded following the law.
