The old rule used to be that "your" Doctor was whoever was in the role when you were 7. So in my case that would be Pertwee. But it has to be Tom Baker.

Dumb idea getting a woman to play the Dr, women should stick to what they do best, porn
Next we'll have Brian Blessed playing Miss Marple.

I'm a big Dr Who Fan. Of the old incarnations Tom Baker and Peter Davison, of the new Matt Smith. I'm looking forward to seeing how the new one works how. The show's format has always lent itself to a vigorous shakeup.

Peter Davison was my Doctor as a kid and so I'm biased by saying he's the best.
Been a fan of Doctor Who all my life and collected and seen all the stories that have been released on DVD. With that in mind and no bias to the Doctors I grew up with I do think Patrick Troughton is without doubt the best Doctor, his whimsical and fun loving portrayal with a hard steely resolve when needed is the Doctor. I like William Hartnell, Tom Baker, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant too, not so much Jon Pertwee and Matt Smith. It would of been great to have seen more of Colin Baker and Paul McGann. Doctor Who has become stale with Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi in recent years, it needs a completely fresh look, something it has done in the past. I'm looking forward to seeing Jodie Whittaker take on the role and making the show hers, reinventing it and keeping Doctor Who fresh. Doctor Who at its best... 2nd Doctor in Tomb of the Cybermen:- https://youtu.be/zIIKGc6jL8Y 5th Doctor in Caves of Androzani https://youtu.be/qvAenK95PfQ Plus any excuse to post two pictures of Peri (Nicola Bryant) Peri in Planet of Fire https://youtu.be/7pSOh8fXOhk

Must say I am also looking forward to David Bradley reprising his role as William Hartnell's first doctor. He did a good job in "An Adventure in Time & Space" and does bear a striking resemblance - moreso than Richard Hurndall did.

Wow...
Just imagine Brian Blessed as the Doctor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMiLQwKLSQM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI2mx4uQzFk (might be a bit too graphic for some of our more sensitive members) Might be just the kick-up-the-arse the series needs.

First Doctor I saw was Jon Pertwee, and he's my fave Doctor overall, followed by Peter Davison. As a kid, I thought Tom Baker was a bit too OTT for my tastes - I only grew into his Doctor when his episodes were repeated on UK Gold some years back.
I felt sorry for Sylvester McCoy's Doctor, as it was obvious the Beeb didn't give a toss about the series prior to its cancellation back then Of the modern Doctors, I thought David Tennant was the best. PS:don't get me started on Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. I liked her in the first modern season with Chris Ecclestone, but she annoyed me in season 2 after her spat with Sarah Jane Smith in "School Reunion", and as for getting mushy over Tennant's Doctor - pass me the sick bucket...

From Colin Baker's (aka the sixth Doctor) tweet:
"Change my dears and not a moment too soon - she IS the Doctor whether you like it or not!"

As I thought there is a "difference of opinion Geoffrey "((Winner Takes All reference) and some wailing and gnashing of teeth over whether Doctor Who should be a woman, well it could have been worse it could have been a gay Doctor OR even black, not that David Harwood wouldn't have made a fine Dr Who I hasten to add. Give the girl, sorry woman,Jodie Whittaker, a chance, she has only just been revealed as the new one and wait and see what her episodes are like - we will get some idea when the Christmas episode comes out. What I want to know is will this new Doctor have a MALE companion this time or will Bill still be around OR better yet keep her and bring in a new character as in the past Doctor Who has had two companions, one of which was male.
