Noted Geordie comic Roy 'Chubby' Brown once made series of films known as the 'Helmet' trilogy.
I believe one episode dealt with Chubby Brown coming back to a future Earth ruled by women, with hilarious results.

I generally like women a great deal, and always feel left out of popular stereotyped gender profiles that say "men are all like this, and women are all like that".

For sure men and women have differences, and yes, men's & women's brains often seem to work differently. Female thinking has its pros & cons, but so does male thinking. In my experience things work best when men and women put their brains together and solve problems together. I've worked in companies where men & women have together come up with WAY better solutions to problems than if they worked apart. I find this in my marriage too. There's no way I would ever again work for a company that was mostly men, just as I would never have only men as friends.

And guys, I think it's dead wrong to think that all women hate porn and want to take all your fun away from you. My wife & I have talked about porn, and by communicating we came to an agreement and mutual respect about it. She is not interested in visual hardcore porn, but she likes written erotica and some softcore in a well-written movie. For me, I like my smut more visual and hardcore, but I never try to impose that on my wife. She knows I like porn and respects my privacy about it.

If the woman in your life hates you looking at porn and having fun, it's probably because you've done a lousy job of communicating with her and reassuring her that your porn and other fun are not competing with her in your heart & mind.

That's not to say that all women are saints; of course some of them are evil bitches just as some men are evil bastards. We just need to have some fair balance in our thinking. I don't want a world dominated by women, but I don't want one dominated by men either.

I don't know how many here remember the old 'Daily Mirror' 'Andy Capp' cartoon (if you recall an uncouth working-class Geordie in a flat cap), and Andy's relationship with his missus Flo', but many a truth was hidden in that comic-strip.

I remember that comic from my childhood. It was syndicated worldwide and very popular. My Dad used to chuckle over it, my Mom not so much.

Can you imagine any woman today putting up with a permanently unemployed alky layabout husband, blowing her wages on his booze and horses? Today Flo would kick his sorry ass to the curb and invite the lesbian granny down the street to move in - and so she should. I think that cartoon would be unlikely to fly today because few would believe the scenario.

I guess a lot of the cartoon's truths applied to older generations, particularly if you believe that people never change. I think that people do change though, so a lot of what was commonplace between men & women 40 years ago might not be so true today.

Or maybe I'm wrong?

In Hartlepool (where Reg Smythe, his creator was from and Andy Capp was based) there is a statue of Andy,...where but in the North East could we celebrate a wife beating drunk?

As I remember him, Andy was a slob, a workshy layabout sponger, a drunk and a womaniser, but every so often his nemesis would appear, artfully wielded by his long suffering wife Florrie.

Imagine a World saturated with Heat magazine abd other rival buggers such as Hello!.Imagine saturation coverage of Jordan and Peter Andre, not forgetting Jade Goody.Imagine articles on Cheryl Cole and the X-Factor pouring out of every orifice.
Imagine a time when rubbishy, trashy 'novels' by female authors are regarded as 'high art' and have pushed everything else out.
Imagine television being dominated from start to finish by the most inane, lame-brained badly written, badly acted soap-opera.
Imagine a world in which real, good high culture is under threat of extinction and is marginalized.
Imagine a society in which the lead story in the TV News bulletin is Jordan's and Peter Andre's divorce, followed by a story that botox is no good for you.
- Now you could say we've reached that point already.
Enough women have now wormed their way up media hierarchies, and female buying power isn immense - but it's only a forestaste of what's headed for us in the future.
