Hi! I've tried Image Grabber II, but it doesn't work properly on Windows 7. Besides, Media Player Classic Home Cinema doesn't have enough options for customizing screeengrabs. After some research, I found another free program called simply "Image Grabber", different to "Image Grabber II", which works perfectly on Windows 7. It has a very simple interface and it's really easy to use. You can download it here (no password required). The zip file also includes the FFDShow decoder, which allegedly allows the program to work with more video formats. Anyway, the FFDShow decoder is an always welcome improvement for multimedia playback. You can download the latest version here.

Here are the settings that, in my opinion (after many tests), work best to take the most advantage of the screen with a 1600 x 1200 resolution (4:3 aspect ratio):

And here's an example after running the program with those settings:

My apologies if this has been posted before (I didn't find it). This is a great solution for Windows 7 users that want to create screen caps with plenty of customization options. Thnaks for reading!

The updated .NET versions work just fine on 7, Vista, and XP. Info & downloads are here:

Best to always enable the 'details', that offers important and usefull info. Personaly i also would prefer slightly bigger thumbs as that shows more of what quality a video/film is .

Small note for people that want to try the pogram; no need for the FFDShow decoder when your system has good support for codecs set up.

Just two messages before yours I posted a link to the most
recent version of Image Grabber II.NET, which has a very reliable
batch mode - in addition to working on Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

One more time with the link:

Default Mac Version

Hi I'm looking for a Mac version of this type of software. There was something called Screen Grabber but it's no longer available for download.
Any Thoughts

Thanks I know about that what I'm after is the software that "looks" at a movie file and makes up a composite of frames. So one jpeg with lots of grabs.

Thumbs up Tip: Screencap whole DVD film instead several VOB files.

Recently isn't strange to see films in DVD format (unchanged or edited).
As far as I know, most of the screencapture programs aren't able to make captures of the whole film, so most users makes captures of each VOB file of the film (so if the film has 5 VOB files, they make 5 jpg files).

Media Player Classic (MPC) can make a screencapture of the whole film, but not if you open the DVD or the whole VIDEO_TS folder.
To make a screencapture of the full DVD film open its VTS IFO file with Media Player Classic and then go to File->Save Thumbnails -> specify the settings that appear in the screen. Usually the VTS IFO file of the main features correspond to the biggest VTS VOB file. This trick works in most DVD titles, depending of the structure of the DVD.
At the end you will have a file like the following.
Caps-> <-caps.
Notice that appears the name and the size of the IFO file and the caps of the whole film with the resolution and length of the full film, nevertheless in some cases the length isn't accurate (ie: multiangle) and is better to put the details obtained by other methods (ie: playing the film).
