The Dungeons and Dragons Thread (Incriminating?)
I would like to start a new thread, with the mods' permission, about the Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) or Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D) role-playing game(s) that some of us may know about, or admit to playing once...
I used to like D&D 1st edition when it was new in the '80s, with the small boxed sets for grade school kids. It used the "in" Mystara setting with a planetary map similar to the Cretaceous Earth. At that time, I also found about the Dragonlance setting for AD&D 1st edition, but did not have those rulebooks. Finally, in high school, there were people at a small church that was next to my high school. I already went there for Cub Scouts in the 5th grade, but by the 10th grade I often had to go in there when the vending machine in our high school cafeteria broke down. The pastor let people do board games, but with D&D/AD&D no one could play "evil" characters. I liked one or two of the Al-Qadim games based on the Arabian Nights legends and similar fiction for AD&D 2nd edition, which had sultans and harems. But it was still a game that was increasingly for nerds, and I quit in 12th grade. Last edited by AmateurEmale; September 1st, 2023 at 11:11 AM.. Reason: typo |
