bj2010,
Ugh, could you be a bit more specific. As far as I know, if you're using Windows, you shouldn't ever have to update a pen drive driver. At least I've never updated one of those drivers. With Win 7 I've just plugged one in, Win looks for the driver and then installs it. Takes a minute or so. Also, is a "pen drive" the same as a "thumb drive"? There might be a drive out there that needs updated drivers but I've never heard of one. I might actually be a bit concerned about a virus installed in the drive. |

bj2010,
I think we're working with a bit of a language problem here. But thats OK. I NEED to know the following. 1. Windows or Mac? 2. If Windows, which version? 3. Manufacturer and Model # of "pen drive"? I still don't know if your "pen drive" is my "thumb drive". Just as a wild guess, from what you've written, it sounds like you may have an old version of Windows (XP or maybe earlier) that may not be familiar with your drive. IF thats the case then you could go to the drive manufacturer's website and see if they have a driver for your version of Windows or Mac. Thats the only thing I can think of to explain your "speed" problem. But need to know the 3 questions above. |

Baresfan,
Thanks for the pic. Hopefully, thats what we're discussing here. bj2010, OK, you're using XP. As you should know, Microsoft no longer supports XP so it is possible that OS knows nothing about your "pen drive". And, unless you're willing to send MS some money every month, you're OS will never know of this drive. So you only have a couple of options. The cheapest and easiest thing to do is to find the manufacturer on the drive and the model number of the drive. Then go to the manufacturer's support website and see if they have a driver for XP. They may, or may not, have one. If they don't have one you're probably SOL and will need to find a more conventional drive that XP will recognize. The other option is more expensive and requires you to put either Win 7 or 8.1 on your machine (if it can handle it). That option will cost you at least $200 to $300 though. At least. Good luck. |
